The Underground DLC of The Division will be free for one week, allowing players to obtain a Shield. We explain what Massive brings to this event and why you should definitely take advantage of this opportunity.
In the State of the Game, Massive announced that the Underground DLC will be available for free to all Division players for one week, from July 19th to July 26th.
You can extensively test the Underground and the raid “Dragon’s Den” during this period. The free week has a specific reason.
New Shield available since July 19th
Since Thursday, July 19th, the new Shield “Sacred” is available. This leads players into the Underground.
What are Shields? These new achievements are supposed to provide various smaller rewards for agents, both in The Division 1 and in part 2.
What do you need to complete the Shield? You need to
- complete 10 phases in the Underground,
- reach level ten, and
- kill ten Hunters
The problem here is that the Underground is a DLC and part of the Season Pass.
The Underground is paid – Massive wants to give all players the opportunity
That is why Massive decided to make the DLC accessible to all players from July 19th to July 26th. This way, as many people as possible have the chance to obtain the Shield.
What is the Underground? The Underground is a separate area from the main game. In the subway tunnels, canals, and other areas beneath the streets of New York, you can start missions in randomly generated areas and fight against the various factions of Manhattan. Since version 1.8, Hunters are also active in the Underground and can hunt you down.
Endless to do, but little variety: The Underground theoretically offers infinite missions; unfortunately, the diversity is not very great. The areas are very similar, and the missions hardly vary.
The Hunters bring a certain thrill, and since patch 1.8, a few special areas are also more frequently found, such as a bank or an underground disco.
