A trailer has been released for The Division, summarizing Update 1.4 and providing a brief outlook on the future.
Yesterday, Ubisoft released a video in which some “The Division” developers, including Community Developer Hamish Bode, explain the major innovations in Update 1.4. So, for those who don’t want to tackle the detailed patch notes, this is a brief summary in just a few minutes:
Otherwise, you can also check our overview of the most important changes from 1.4, where we present the innovations in bite-sized pieces.
After Update 1.4, it’s far from over
Patch 1.4 fundamentally revamped the player experience and many core systems. Aside from a few issues, the changes are apparently well received. Some users write that the hype is back, that Update 1.4 was done excellently, and that it’s great that Massive hasn’t given up on the game. Especially the World Tier system and the ability to progress as a solo player are praised.
However, Massive doesn’t want to stop here and rest on the work done. At the end of the video, Bode points out that with the upcoming content DLCs “Survival” and “Last Stand”, core experiences will continue to be improved. So, not only new game content is coming, but also further changes to the core systems. What these entail has not been specified.
However, the developers revealed in reports over the past weeks what goals they have set for future updates. This includes named weapons. While these can already be obtained at the maximum gear score (before 1.4, most were stuck at low values), the fundamental concept of these weapons still needs to be revised. As they come with fixed talents, which are neither unique nor outstanding, they are inferior to other weapons that can come with strong talents.
Furthermore, the Dark Zone is up for revision in the future: It has not been revised at all in 1.4 – it only benefits from the general changes. However, the developers promised that this PvP area will also be upgraded in future updates.
By the way: The Conflict DLC will again be released a month early on Xbox One and PC before it goes live on PS4. However, this will be separate from Update 1.5, which will be released simultaneously on all platforms. A revision of the core experience will be included in Update 1.5.
The Conflict DLC will bring a new enemy faction: The Hunters.
