What about the update 1.7 of the online shooter The Division? In a “State of the Game” report, the developers talk about the upcoming patch and the encrypted caches.
First of all, there is still no release date for the update. However, the PTS 3 is now active on all platforms. This is the last version before the release of the update. This does not mean that there won’t be any more changes.
PTS ends on July 31
The classified drop rates will not be changed and there will be some bug fixes. In addition, further security measures are being developed to combat cheaters and hackers. They are also working on lags, but these are not easy to fix as they often relate to the infrastructure of the game. The PTS 3 is set to end on July 31.
New information on the “Encrypted Caches” – Coincidence? Yes – Betting? No
Furthermore, the developers of The Division spoke about the Encrypted Caches and revealed new information:
- The “Encrypted Caches” are ways to obtain cosmetic items for real money. This includes weapon and gear skins as well as emotes.
- Encrypted Caches can be opened with the Cypher Keys, which can be purchased from the premium vendor.
- Massive announces that it does not solely depend on chance which item you receive from an Encrypted Cache. You will find certain collectibles in the caches for your collection. Once your collection is complete, you will receive different items. The chance of obtaining an item that is still open for your collection is dynamically adjusted. The more caches you open, the higher the chance of receiving that item.
Collectibles in the Encrypted Caches
- The collectibles are divided into four rarity tiers. Their chance in the Encrypted Caches changes constantly – 60 percent for Tier 1, 30 percent for Tier 2, seven percent for Tier 3, and three percent for Tier 4.
- In addition to the collectibles, you will also find objects in the caches that you would otherwise purchase from the premium vendor for real money.
- The value you receive from the caches is approximately 150 to 200 percent more than the direct purchase of these items from the premium vendor.
- There is also a chance to receive an item from an Encrypted Cache twice. This is intended to maintain some of the randomness.
No trading of cosmetic items – Fear of betting like in CS:GO
- Trading of cosmetic items is not possible. The developers have seen how something like this can go wrong in other games and lead to gambling.
- There are no plans to change the probabilities for a specific popular item regarding the drop rates in the Encrypted Caches. However, changes may occur in individual item categories.
- The drop rates for key fragments will be significantly increased. Especially with bosses – both in the Dark Zone and in the open world. This is intended to ensure that during several hours of gameplay, you definitely receive a key fragment.
