In The Division, the PTS for Update 1.8 will soon come to an end. The release of 1.8 is getting closer!
On October 26, the State of the Game aired, and it was different from usual. Besides the regular update report, three developers appeared during the stream, including Massive’s Community Developer Yannick Banchereau, who hasn’t been in front of the camera for a while. They announced today that we will hear more from them soon (starting next week).
They also apologized for the recent silence, explaining that “a lot of crazy stuff” has happened in the past few days and they have been in many workshops.
No concrete information was provided, but it can be inferred: Starting next week, it will be exciting again around The Division!
PTS for Update 1.8 end next week
Next week, the public test servers for Update 1.8 will close:
- On Tuesday, October 31, the PTS will end. From then on, you will no longer be able to test the upcoming contents of Update 1.8.
Currently, the PTS Phase 3 is running. It started on October 18 on PC. If you’re wondering: “When will PTS Phase 3 come to consoles?”, here’s the answer: Not at all. You will no longer be able to test the changes of Phase 3 on PS4 and Xbox One beforehand. It would be too cumbersome and take too long to go through the certification process, which is why the PTS is being completely closed and preparations for the 1.8 release are underway.
When Update 1.8 will be released is unknown. In the past, it has been shown that approximately 2 weeks after the end of the PTS phase, it can be expected. That would be around November 14 – but that is not confirmed.
More information from the State of the Game:
- Compared to PTS Phase 3, there won’t be any major changes.
- The Rogue System 2.0 will come. It will remain pretty much as it was on the PTS. The Rogue Timer will be adjusted a bit, and once it is on the live servers, they will listen to the feedback from the entire community and be able to make adjustments.
- The Time-to-Kill in PvP will be looked at. Currently, it takes too long to defeat other agents. The PvP damage modifier will likely be adjusted.
- There will be no changes for the secret gear sets, such as the Striker set, which has been heavily discussed.
- At the West Side Pier, it is criticized that enemies spawn too quickly. This will be adjusted.
- The Global Event 3 will start only after the release of 1.8.
- Some Global Event rewards are tied to the paid DLCs. However, you can also obtain the masks without mastering these DLC rewards.
- The “Halloween Special Event” that the developers talked about will not be that special. It’s a weekend event with double rewards. They apologize for calling it a “special event” and raising false hopes.
Perhaps we will soon hear what Massive is currently working on!
