Ubisoft has officially announced the development of a movie based on The Division.
As recently reported on the Ubi blog, The Division is coming to the big screen. Starring will be Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty) and Jake Gyllenhaal (End of Watch, Nightcrawler). These stars will be in front of the camera at Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
This officially confirms what Variety reported back in June and The Hollywood Reporter in July.
Both actors are expected to take on producer roles with their companies Freckle Films (Gyllenhaal) and Nine Stories (Chastain) and will be directly involved in the development process of the “The Division” movie.
However, this will not be the only adaptation Ubisoft has planned for its blockbuster games. Movie adaptations of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, and Rabbids are also currently in development. A promising “Assassin’s Creed” film featuring Michael Fassbender is already set to be released this coming winter.
There is no release date for the “The Division” movie yet. But it is now officially confirmed: It will come.
