Many agents were banned unjustly in The Division.
In recent days, many agents looked in disbelief at their email inbox. They received an email from Ubisoft with the subject: Important information regarding your account.
The email states that repeated actions were detected on the account that violated the conduct rules of The Division. Therefore, steps are now necessary to protect the gaming experience of other users. Namely: A permanent ban. From now on, you are not allowed to play The Division with the account.
There were problems with the ban wave
However, there were several issues during this ban wave: complaints flooded in on Reddit that agents were banned unjustly. One user reported receiving the email even though he hadn’t played for three months. It quickly became clear that these were not unrepentant cheaters trying to talk their way out, but innocent victims of a somewhat overly generous ban wave.
Massive has also responded: Yes, innocent agents were mistakenly banned. However, this has already been reversed. They apologize for the inconvenience.
If you are brave agents but still have a permaban, you should contact Ubi Support. They will resolve the issue.
Cheats and hacks in The Division
Some users are now disparagingly criticizing Massive and Ubisoft, saying they can ban the innocent but not the real cheaters and hackers. It became clear shortly after the launch that The Division has a problem with cheaters, especially on PC.
Since then, the developers have been fighting against cheaters, repeatedly issuing ban waves and tightening penalties. Direct permabans were introduced in the summer. However, the cheat problem is probably never fully resolved.
