The Survival update brings a brand new, exciting mode to the game: Survival. In this mode, you crash-land in the midst of a severe snowstorm and a battle for survival begins, where you must utilize every resource.
You are not alone. Other agents roam the snow-covered city, and in PvE-PvP mode, some may turn rogue to save themselves.

The mission in Survival mode
Your task is to find and retrieve antivirals in the Dark Zone, substances that inhibit the reproduction of viruses. Time is of the essence, which is why you are sent out during a severe blizzard. However, the helicopter crashes, and you must fight your way through the storm with only a pistol in hand to reach the Dark Zone.
In Survival, all of Manhattan is available as your playing field. A match supports 24 players, with player searches for groups and solo players happening in different sections, ensuring a balanced playing field.
Survive by any means necessary
Besides tough enemies, like the Hunters, you also have to withstand the cold, hunger, thirst, and a viral infection.
- Cold: You can freeze to death in Survival. You need to seek warmth, such as campfires or sheltered areas. Also, cosmetic items now serve not only to style your look but also to protect you against the cold. Every piece of clothing has a cold resistance value.
- Hunger and thirst: In Survival, you cannot starve or dehydrate to death. These two needs have a different effect. Thirst affects your vision and makes it harder to find containers that may contain important items. Hunger slows down regeneration. If you are well-fed, there are supposed to be advantageous bonuses.
By the way: Your teammates can share some of their food or drink with you. Sharing is possible. The only question is whether they will do it willingly…
- Virus infection: A growling stomach, however, is not your biggest concern. There is an infection lurking in your body that is slowly killing you. With the help of medications and painkillers, you can temporarily slow it down and prolong your agent’s life. But beware: The more medications you take, the higher the resistance against them becomes. Eventually, you will be completely immune. If you want to survive, you must ultimately get to the Dark Zone and reach the extraction helicopter.
- Crafting plays an important role in the battle for survival: You create not only weapons and clothing but also skills. Since resources are limited, you need to decide which items are vital for you.
The Survival mode is no walk in the park. On the one hand, you need to take your time and gradually equip yourself with better items to be prepared for the Dark Zone; on the other hand, you are under time pressure as the infection in your body continues to spread.
Rewards are always available
At the end of each session, you will be ranked based on your performance, whether you made it out alive or not. You earn points based on several factors, such as: How far did you get, how long did you survive, how many items and resources did you collect? The more points you earn, the more rewards there are.
