With this Best-in-Slot guide to The Division 1.8, you will always make the right decision in choosing your attributes and stat bonuses on armor pieces.
Since update 1.8, the variety of builds in The Division is greater than ever: You can create powerful DPS builds, healer builds, and even tank builds and excel in both PvE and PvP.
However, this does not mean that you should throw your items together wildly, thinking: “Something will come out of it.” Every build can be optimized, and to ensure that you do not leave too much potential in your character setup, we will now reveal which stats to pay attention to on armor pieces.
This “Best-in-Slot-Guide” was created by Division expert MarcoStyle. We summarize the results in English.
Note: This guide is PvP-focused. With the following tips, you will also be strong in PvE, but for PvE, you should ideally focus more on enemy armor damage and damage against elites.
The Main Attributes
For firearms, stamina, and electronics, you should either
- go for high firearms + solid stamina
- or for high electronics + solid stamina
.
Firearms + electronics or a balanced stat distribution do not deliver optimal results for your builds. So first, decide whether you want to deal a lot of damage or bring high skill strength.
There are several reasons for this. The main reason: Most secret gear sets in 1.8 are designed in such a way that you either need a lot of firearms or a lot of electronics (at least 9000) to unleash their full potential. And for stamina, you should always bring solid values (around 5000) to avoid going down immediately in fights.
For a few gear sets, you also need high stamina values (over 9000), like with D3-FNC, so for these builds, you should aim for high stamina + firearms.
According to MarcoStyle, there is no single set for which you should build a high firearms + high electronics build. Here are the optimal distributions for each gear set (the icons will be displayed in-game next to the sets):In short: Focus entirely on the attribute that your gear set favors. Once you reach 9000 in that attribute, boost the rest into stamina.
Which stats are the best on which items?
These are the best stats with the maximum bonuses on the individual armor pieces.
Chest Piece
The chest piece provides two higher attributes and one lower attribute.
For Firearms Build:
- Health Points (16674)
- Skill Haste or Health on Kill or Exotic Damage Resilience
- Magazine Capacity (56%) – lower attribute
For Electronics Build:
- Skill Haste (9%)
- Health Points (16674)
- Magazine Capacity (56%) – lower attribute
Mask
The mask provides one higher attribute and one lower attribute.
For Firearms Build:
- Crit Chance (4%) or Exotic Damage Resilience (11%)
- Burn Resistance (17%) – lower attribute
For Electronics Build:
Kneepads
The kneepads have one higher attribute and three lower attributes.
For Firearms Build:
- Health Points (16674)
- Burn, Shock, and Disrupt Resistance – lower attributes
For Electronics Build:
- Health Points (16674) or Skill Power (13339), with health points providing a better boost
- Burn, Shock, and Disrupt Resistance – lower attributes
Do not go for Crit Damage on the kneepads as the bonus can only be a maximum of +9%. On weapon mods, you can achieve around +20%, so it is better to increase this stat with the mods.
Backpack
The backpack has one higher and one lower attribute.
For Firearms Build:
- Health Points (13339) – The backpack also gives a good boost to Stability (16.5%), allowing you to control your weapon better
- Burn Resistance (17%) – lower attribute
For Electronics Build:
- Health Points (13339) or Stability (16.5%)
- Burn Resistance (17%) – lower attribute
Do not go for Crit Damage on the backpack either as this bonus is too low. Skill Power should not be chosen either, as health points provide better bonuses.
Gloves
Gloves provide you with three higher attributes.
For Firearms Build:
- Weapon Damage Boost (12%)
- Crit Chance (6%)
- Crit Damage (17%)
For Electronics Build:
- Weapon Damage Boost (12%)
- Skill Haste (9%)
- Crit Chance or Crit Damage
Gloves provide up to +12% damage on various weapon types. If you are playing with assault rifles, make sure that the gloves offer +12% assault rifle damage. This is a strong boost that you should always aim for.
Holster
The holster provides one higher attribute.
For Firearms Build:
- Crit Chance (4%)
For Electronics Build:
- Skill Haste (7%)
The holster can also provide up to +20.5% reload speed. This is strong in PvE, but less so in PvP.
The Armor Mods
For Firearms Build:
- Crit Chance (1%) or Health Points (3335)
For Electronics Build:
- Skill Haste (3%)
You will receive detailed calculations and further explanations as to why these are the best stats on armor pieces in the embedded video above.
But: These are merely recommendations for stats with which you generally perform very well. You can also create builds that deviate from these tips and still be powerful. The upper details are definitely helpful as a reference.
Have fun creating builds!
