In The Division, the current endgame is dominated by a weapon duo. The exotic submachine gun “The House” and the M4 assault rifle are powerful and popular among many agents. But what is worth it beyond these 2 weapons? We present alternatives to the best weapons in The Division.
Since the release of The Division, there have been less than a handful of weapons that were considered the best. Initially, these included SMGs like the Vector and the AUG, as well as the M1A First Wave marksman rifle. In between, the G36 took power, followed by one-hit shotguns in the Dark Zone that still dominate today.
For a long time, the M4 assault rifle has been ruling over PvP and PvE. With 1.8 came, in the form of the exotic SMG “The House”, competition into play. Agents farm like crazy to get the seemingly best weapon.
But when the loot god shows you no mercy and you simply can’t get any of these weapons, that’s no reason to despair. The Division offers a wide variety of weapons.
The most important thing: Play the weapon that you enjoy!
After all, if you feel comfortable with a weapon, you become better with it and thus hit more often, it doesn’t matter if another weapon has higher base damage or is faster. It depends on you. The game becomes much more fun as soon as you find the weapon “fits well in your hand”.
Keep in mind that these weapons are a personal selection. It may well be that some of them do not suit you. This varies from player to player. Just test and utilize the wide selection!
Even without the M4 – these assault rifles allow you to deal a lot of damage
You can’t go wrong with these assault rifles:
High fire rate – the Bullfrog
Previously also known as Famas. It comes with a magazine size of 30. The weapon has the highest fire rate of all assault rifles at 900, and is correspondingly difficult to control, especially on consoles. But its exotic talent makes it so interesting:
- Straightforward: Damage is increased by 15%, precision and stability mods reduce the bonus
You have an assault rifle with an extremely high fire rate and a decent damage value here. To improve weapon handling, you can also increase stability through your gear. The Striker set is particularly well-suited, as it inherently improves stability.
Once you get used to the weapon, it can certainly compete well in both PvP and PvE against the M4.
Slow, but high penetration power – the Warlord
An exotic AK-47 with a rather lower fire rate of 600, but high damage per bullet. It is easy to control and also has a special talent:
- Tough Bandages: Damage taken is reduced by 20% while shooting. The damage only takes effect once you stop firing.
Since the subsequent damage takes effect very slowly, you have enough time to heal accordingly or retreat from the fight. This talent gives you the opportunity to take more risks and fight directly at the front. Particularly with the Striker and Predator secret sets, powerful combinations can be created.

In general, the Warlord is a good alternative that feels most at home in PvE. But it also finds its niche in PvP and can cause trouble for opponents.
The golden mean – G36/ACR
Probably the most balanced assault rifles in The Division. Both have a relatively high fire rate of 760 for the ACR and 750 for the G36, good base damage, and stable handling. The G36 was once even the most powerful weapon in the game and was nerfed by Massive.
A good G36 can be found, but it may take a while, as it comes with the fixed talent “Concentrated” which unfortunately is quite useless. Therefore, you have to hope for one that has 2 good talents so that you can roll away Concentrated.
No House – these SMGs will help you in The Division
Until luck is on your side for loot, you should deal with these SMGs:
Kinship – the MP5
Before the House came, the MP5 was the king of SMGs. These weapons are similar for a reason, after all, the House is based on an MPX.
The kinship should be the first choice when you don’t have a House at hand because handling and base damage are similarly high. The MP5 has only a somewhat lower fire rate of 800, but with 32 rounds, a minimally larger magazine.
For some, like the D3 FNC set, the MP5 is even better suited since its third talent is changeable.
Good only in PvP – The MP7
The MP7 has the highest fire rate of all submachine guns at 900, but also has the smallest magazine with 20 rounds without extension. It spreads quite generously and is therefore only suitable for close combat.
For PvE, this is not a good condition, but in PvP, the MP7 should not be underestimated.
Ideal for PvE – The PP-19
The PP-19 has the largest magazine of all SMGs with 53 rounds and with a fire rate of 700 it is one of the slowest. It is precise and comes with the talent Accelerated, which significantly reduces your reload time. Attach a magazine extension to the device and you have a weapon that almost continuously fires.
In PvP it is usable, but its strengths clearly lie in PvE.
For nostalgics – The AUG
One of the strongest weapons in the game, especially in the early days. It is very precise, and it also has a respectable base damage with which you can deal well against your enemies. The magazine size of 25 is somewhat low, but this can be countered with an extension.
With 725 its fire rate is unfortunately rather low. However, with the right play style and the right builds, you can still squeeze a lot out of this weapon. A good alternative in both PvP and PvE. Its strengths clearly lie in damage and precision.
Note: If you generally have trouble getting exotic items: During global events, you can buy containers for 900 GE tokens. These have a particularly high chance of yielding exotics.
