The MMO shooter The Division makes history for Ubisoft. More copies of The Division were sold in the first 24 hours than any other game in the company’s history.
In addition to the record for the best-selling Ubisoft game in 24 hours, the “Third Person Action RPG” is breaking another record. The digital sales on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 were higher in one day than any other Ubisoft title ever has been.
The CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, is celebrating, stating that the launch is an incredible achievement for Ubisoft. It demonstrates the company’s unparalleled ability to take a new game market and turn it into an entertainment blockbuster. This is a memorable day for Ubisoft, and more importantly: It marks the start for millions of players in the world of The Division. They are sure to love it.
With the success, Ubisoft states it now has three of the four most successful launches of a new franchise in the history of the gaming industry. Whether it will reclaim the “Most Successful New Franchise” record that Destiny took from Watchdogs is not clear from Ubisoft’s statement.
