Since April 23rd, the new Global Event Blackout is running at The Division and you can hunt for Classified sets again. In our guide to Blackout, we show you how to get the most out of the event. Blackout is the Global Event 5 in The Division.
Blackout gives you until April 30th. the opportunity to literally shock your enemies to death! Again, there are Classified sets and masks to be won. This time new included: Secret containers!
In Blackout, there are 4 versions for each Classified set available during the Global Event. For Blackout, these are:
- Tactician, Striker, DeadEye, and D3 FNC sets
- The containers cost 3000 Global Event Credits
- and also include target data and Div-Tech
You can still purchase the superior containers from previous GEs for 1500 GE Credits.
Shock Ammo and Falcon Punch! The Modifiers of Global Event 5, Blackout
“Blackout” gives you shock ammo and a loading bar above your health indicator that fills up by shooting or running. You deal more damage the higher the charge is.
“Extreme Blackout”, the next level, allows you to unleash an overload in melee by filling the bar, knocking your enemies out with one strike. This is visually impressive with a shockwave effect.
But beware of an overload! This occurs when
- you miss a melee attack at 100% charge, or
- if your charge exceeds 100%.
If this happens, you shock yourself and nearby allies. Your loading bar turns red in the last quarter, so you can react in time and avoid the overload.
“Total Blackout” speeds up your loading bar when you are near group members.
How to Effectively Approach in Blackout
We have some tips for you to make the best use of Blackout’s advantages.
Bring a Recovery Specialist!
To protect yourself from an overload, you should have a player with a Recovery set in the group. Their support post has a long range, heals very effectively, has a long duration, and the most important: It grants immunity.
As long as you stay within its radius, you are immune to status effects, do not consume ammo, and will be revived. Recommended are performance mods with support post range,
Alternatively, it is sufficient just to have a Immunizer support post with you. This at least protects you from being shocked.
Change Your Weapons at the Right Moment!
If “Extreme Blackout” is active, you need to be more cautious, as if your charge exceeds 100%, you shock yourself and nearby allies.
By simply switching weapons, you can prevent this since the loading bar is reset. This is helpful if you do not have a Recovery specialist or an Immunizer support post available.
However, there is also another way to prevent an overload.
Use Melee!
The other, much more interesting way to prevent an overload. If your charge is in the red area, you can knock your opponents out with a powerful strike.
With good timing and tactics, this can be used effectively against larger enemies. Fill your indicator by running and shooting accordingly, pay attention to your position, and make sure an enemy is in direct range.
This way you can run through the enemies like a superhero and knock them out one by one.
Beware: If you play in a team and miss, you will shock all nearby allies.
Pay Attention to Distances to Team Members
If “Total Blackout” is active, your load increases faster near team members. So keep enough distance, or else you will stun each other.
This is indicated by red and blue lines connecting you to your allies.
- Red indicates an impending overload, during which you and nearby allies will be stunned
- Blue signals that your load cooldown is increased
Want the Masks? Here’s What You Need to Do
- For the fiery Volcano Mask, you must complete the commendation “Lightning and Thunder”. The task here is to eliminate 500 shocked enemies. The stages of this commendation are divided into 50/100/150/200/500.
- “Fists of Wrath”! You must receive this commendation to obtain the Tao or Panda Mask. To do this, eliminate 200 enemies with a melee shock, the stages are 25/50/100/200.
- You will receive the Grimace Mask when you complete the commendation “Safety First”.You must complete a mission without being shocked once. Additionally, extreme blackout must be active and you must complete it in a group.
