In The Division, you can create your own builds with a personalized selection of specific weapons, armor, and skills. We take a look at a sniper build that is impressive.
Arekkz Gaming presents a Sniper Guide in his series “Best of Builds”. He discusses his skills and weapons and offers tips for your Marksman build.
How to Create a Sniper Build
The sniper build presented below is particularly suitable for team play. This is because all medical skills are neglected, with the aim of dealing as much damage as possible. Ultimately, the sniper should stay in the background, avoiding damage whenever possible while dealing significant damage.
Focus on Firearms in the Marksman Build
For attributes, it makes sense to fully focus on firearms. This attribute increases the damage of your weapons, which is the highest priority for a sniper. Arekkz recommends electronics as the second attribute (the reason will be explained in relation to the skills). For stamina, take what is left over. Therefore, once again the note: This build can only be played in a team as you will not withstand enough damage otherwise.
For the Sniper Build, Take These Skills
For this build, take the following skills:
- Pulse with the “Tactical Scanner” mod: The pulse sends out a tracking pulse that marks enemies and allies through walls and covers. The mod increases damage when attacking enemy targets that have been identified by the tracking pulse.
This means you deal more damage. Therefore, it is also worthwhile to increase skill power with the electronics attribute, as this allows you to deal even more damage.
- Sticky Bomb with the “Trapper” mod: This sticky bomb has the advantage with the mod that enemy targets in cover deal less damage. More importantly, however, they also take more damage.
- Unique Skill: Tactical Link: Increases your agent’s damage and critical hit chance. This also applies to your allies. So: You deal even more damage!
Select These Talents for Your Sniper Build
While you do not have to select the perks in The Division since they are active as soon as they are unlocked, you need to choose some talents, like the skills. Once you have all slots for talents available, you can select four of them. For the sniper build, choose the following:
- One is None: If you hit your opponent with a headshot, there is a 50% chance that the bullet will not be consumed. It essentially bounces back into your magazine. Since, as a sniper, you ideally always aim for the head, this talent can prove very useful.
- Technical Assistance: Kill an enemy during an active skill to extend the skill’s duration by 10%. This allows the Sticky Bomb skill to last longer.
- Piercing Power: Suppress an enemy (suppressive fire) to increase headshot damage by 25% for 10 seconds. Since headshots should occur with a sniper, this increased damage is quite practical.
- Tactical Advantage: This talent activates when you perform a cover-to-cover move. For 10 seconds, your weapon damage increases by 2% per meter. Therefore, the benefit increases the further the cover-to-cover move is.
If you combine these talents with your skills, you can temporarily deal devastating damage. Use this to your advantage!
What Weapons Does a Sniper Build Need?
As a primary weapon, take a precision rifle. Here, Arekkz recommends a weapon that has high base damage. Every shot counts after all. The M44 or the SRS would be useful for this build. Precision rifles with a large magazine but lower damage are better suited for medium range.
As a secondary weapon, you can choose an assault rifle with high range. This will be useful if you run out of ammunition for the precision rifle.
