How can I efficiently level up my Gear Score? What activities should I pursue for this?
Once you have brought your agent to Level 30 and reached the endgame, the Gear Score comes into play. Each item, except for cosmetic gear, now has an individual value. Your agent’s Gear Score consists of the average gear scores of the equipped items, indicating your strength and experience to you and other players.
However, a high Gear Score does not necessarily mean that you are superior to agents with a lower score. The “true strength” of your agent is influenced by numerous other factors, such as talents, bonuses, mods, and how your items synergize.
The Gear Score is especially considered a ticket for specific activities. For the upcoming incursion “Broken Circle” in The Division, a required Gear Score of 220 is specified. But how do you achieve a score over 200?
The first steps with Gear Score – Level 30 and what’s next?
Once you have completed the story of The Division and reached Max Level 30, you will see your Gear Score. Keep in mind that all items with Level 29- do not count for the GS calculation, which is why it might be low.
Your first goal should now be to prepare yourself for the Dark Zone, keeping in mind not just the Gear Score, but also useful bonuses and attributes (firearms, stamina, electronics).
Now complete missions in Hard Mode. If these are still too hard for you, you can initially tackle the missions on Normal. As you approach Gear Score 150, you can confidently take the next step up the ladder to a high Gear Score.
How to reach a GS up to 163
The incursion “Falcon Lost” is already playable from a gear score of 140, but you should steer clear of it for now. Even agents with a significantly higher GS find this activity challenging.
Many items in the Dark Zone drop at Level 30 with a Gear Score of 163. This means that the PvP area is now an attractive source to aim for a GS of 163.
Here’s how to progress:
- Farm items in the Dark Zone, especially in the southern areas.
- Continue to tackle missions in PvE on Hard.
The next step: Gear Score 182
Now you should be well-equipped to tackle the daily missions in Challenge Mode. Especially for inexperienced agents, these tasks can become real challenges.
Now pay attention to a specific currency: Phoenix Credits. With these, you can purchase tasty items with a GS of 182, 204, and even 214 in the Tech Wing of the Base of Operations. All blueprints have a value of 182 and are significantly cheaper compared to the 204+ items.
Here’s how to progress:
- Show your skills in the daily missions on Challenging.
- Invest your Phoenix Credits primarily in the blueprints of the specialist gear vendor.
How to reach a Gear Score of up to 204
Off we go to the incursion! In “Falcon Lost”, you will receive one item with a value of 214 upon successful completion once a week. If you keep farming the incursion, there are still tasty 191 items available to increase your Gear Score.
Keep an eye on the +204 items from the specialist gear vendor in the Base of Operations. The Gear Sets are currently the items with the highest gear scores and are particularly exciting.
Additionally, you should enjoy yourself in the Dark Zone and grab the weapons from the Dark Zone weapon vendor. However, you must be at least DZ Rank 75 or Rank 90 for the weapons with a value of 204. To reach these levels, you will need to invest a lot of time and effort in the PvP area.

- Complete the incursion on Hard.
- Play extensively in the Dark Zone.
Gear Score 204? There’s more to achieve!
If you now have a gear score over 200 and want to keep progressing, there is only one way to give your Gear Score another substantial boost: The Incursion in Challenging difficulty.
Here, you can obtain a guaranteed piece of gear with a Gear Score of 240 once a week. Additionally, the boss drops armor with a value of 214.
This is currently the only way to obtain items with a score of 240.
Note: While the armor can reach a gear score of 240, weapons cap out at 204.
