In The Division, we present the equipment set FireCrest.
The Underground expansion brought four new, unique gear sets into the game. Agents on PS4 will have to wait until August 2nd for these, as the expansion will only be released for them a month later. Since Update 1.3, only the AlphaBridge set is available for all agents.
One of these four Underground-exclusive sets is called FireCrest. Agents are wondering: “Is it worth it or can it go?” Let’s take a look at FireCrest.
What makes FireCrest stand out in The Division
According to the patch notes, FireCrest is a set for an offensive playstyle, which allows you to light your enemies on fire. If you enjoyed playing with fire as a child, this set is meant for you.
FireCrest consists of a total of six individual pieces. You will mostly find them in the Underground, in Hard, Challenge, and Heroic modes. They can also be found in Underground containers. Other locations include the Dark Zone, especially supply drops, and the Assault Dragon’s Nest.
If you collect and equip several individual pieces, certain bonuses are activated. With four armor pieces, you unlock the unique talent. Here are the bonuses:
- 2 pieces: +3 incendiary grenade capacity. When you fully replenish your supply, you won’t run out of incendiary grenades as quickly.
- 3 pieces: +100% reload speed. This bonus is quite useful. The shorter the reload time, the more damage per time you can deal. Definitely worth considering.
- 4 pieces: Talent FireCrest: When you kill a burning target, you receive incendiary grenades for 10 seconds.
The design idea behind the set is clear: You should be able to heat things up for the enemies. You have more incendiary grenades in your inventory and additionally receive more when you eliminate burning enemies.
There are several ways to set enemies on fire: with incendiary grenades, with the seeker mine with air detonation, with the flamethrower turret, or even with explosive barrels near the enemies. However, the set is mainly designed to make enemies dance with incendiary grenades.
However, there are significant downsides: The talent activates far less often than one would wish. Burning enemies are only on fire for 3 seconds. The duration of this effect from special ammo was reduced from ten to three seconds with Update 1.3. And it is relatively rare to land the killing blow within this short time.
The YouTuber ThePwnstar4hire speculates that the talent for incendiary grenades was designed as they were before the update. Because currently, one hardly benefits from the FireCrest talent.
One could now consider whether one wants to transform into a half “Cleaner,” focusing solely on fire skills and fully aligning the build with the talent. However, this specialization is not really worthwhile, as 10 seconds of incendiary grenades are not outstanding—if the talent’s effect even activates at all.
If you still absolutely want to become an agent who throws incendiary grenades around, it’s worth taking a look at the Reclaimer set. This not only provides you with unlimited incendiary ammo, but the whole team also benefits from it.
In conclusion, the only interesting aspect of the FireCrest set is the 3-set bonus. The talent activates far too rarely—and when it does, it is not really useful. Some agents even refer to it as the worst set talent ever.
