In The Division, we present a FireCrest build that upgrades the assault rifle Urban-MDR.
When the FireCrest gear set was introduced with update 1.3, it was only useful for being disassembled into crafting materials. In the endgame, it had no usefulness, the talent was too weak, and other sets were too strong.
However, with the update 1.4, FireCrest was revised, allowing for interesting builds to be created with it. YouTuber Arekkz Gaming presents his build in the video, which is based on FireCrest, the Flame Turret, and the Urban-MDR.
How to Create the FireCrest Build
Select the Urban-MDR as your weapon that we have already discussed. It is the revised “B.L.I.N.D. Battle Rifle”, which fires semi-automatically. Compared to other assault rifles, it has below-average stats, which is why other weapons are generally preferred. However, with this build, the Urban-MDR is enhanced thanks to synergy effects. The important talent is:
- Distracted: Damage is increased by 10% when the enemy is affected by a status effect.
As a secondary weapon, Arekkz uses the Precision Rifle MK17.
The Armor Pieces:
You need four pieces of FireCrest to activate all bonuses and the talent of this set. These are:
- 2-Piece Bonus: +3 Grenade Capacity
- 3-Piece Bonus: +50% Flame Turret Range, +30% Flame Turret Damage
- 4-Piece Bonus: Talent – Damage is increased by 15% against burning targets.
Additionally, you can equip Barret’s bulletproof vest, which increases damage by 5% when a skill is active. And your Flame Turret should be active most of the time. For the sixth armor piece, Arekkz uses gloves with the Wild talent.
Combined, this results in: +10% damage from the Urban-MDR talent, +5% from Barret’s vest, and +15% from the FireCrest talent – provided the enemy is burning. This gives you a 30% damage boost.
With the mods, you enhance firearms, stamina, and improve the turret.
The Skills:
- Focus on the Flame Turret to set enemies on fire and activate the bonuses mentioned above. Additionally, the turret is good at drawing attention, so your agent receives fewer bullets.
- As a second skill, you can choose the First Aid with the overdose mod.
The Character Talents:
- Adrenaline: Use a medkit when you have taken damage to receive an overheal.
- Technical Aid: Killing an enemy while a skill is active extends the skill’s duration by 10%.
- Precision: A headshot marks the enemy for 10 seconds.
- Firestarter: If you set an enemy on fire, there is a 30% chance to trigger the effect on all enemies within 10 meters. This talent is particularly important!

This character setup is certainly not the best possible for the endgame, as its power depends on whether you can set the enemies on fire or not. However, it is definitely fun to play with.
It is also useful for solo agents since the Flame Turret has “Crowd Control” capabilities, meaning it can control enemy masses.
By the way: If you don’t have the Urban-MDR at hand, you can also choose one of the best weapons in 1.5.
