In The Division we look at the underground missions after Update 1.4.
At the end of June (early August on PS4), the underground DLC was released. This was the last content drop in Ubisoft’s MMO shooter so far. Since then, there has been a drought of content. Massive worked for weeks and months on the Update 1.4, which revamped the entire gameplay experience. The next game contents will come with the Survival DLC, which currently has no release timeframe other than “still in 2016”.
“Underground” brought along a third raid and a few gear sets as the biggest novelty, the underground operations. These are randomly generated missions that offer high replayability and should become interesting again now while waiting for “Survival”. How have they changed with Update 1.4?
Underground Containers also beyond 40
With each rank-up in the underground, you receive a Sealed Container that contains items at the maximum value. Consequently, these are very much in demand. A change with 1.4 is that you can continue to gather experience even after underground rank 40, the current maximum, and thus earn underground containers. Previously, it stopped at 40.
Furthermore, the rewards for the Directive have been revised. With directives, you can make the underground operations more difficult for yourself. If you activate these and successfully complete the mission, you will now receive Phoenix Credits instead of items.
In addition, the loot has been updated depending on the difficulty as follows:
- Normal Mode (Boss Loot)
- 1x Superior or High-end
- Chance for a High-end mod
- Difficult Mode (Boss Loot)
- 1x High-end or Gear set item
- 1x Gear set item
- Chance for a High-end mod
- Challenging Mode (Boss Loot)
- 2x High-end or Gear set item
- 1x Gear set item
- Chance for a High-end mod
Keep in mind that even the “normal” adds can drop items with the maximum Gear score – although with a low probability. The gear value depends on the respective world rank.
Additionally, various bugs in the underground have been fixed.
By the way: Compared to many other merchants, the underground merchant seems to have lost importance. It only brings three items that have the maximum score.
