Although the server launch of Tom Clancy’s The Division is scheduled for this afternoon, new info about the game has already been released: through datamining. But beware: spoiler alert!
Datamining essentially describes the process in which a user sifts through a game’s data to extract information about the game. This is exactly what a reddit user has done with The Division. He presents his findings to the community. The user itsgamerdoc claims to have stayed awake for over 21 hours just to thoroughly search the The Division files for new info. And he found quite a bit: over 200,000 audio files, a list of mission names, a list of cutscenes, some hints about boss fights, weapons, and more.
This is what the dataminer discovered
- First, the user found 26 names of missions. Among them, he claims to have found missions in Brooklyn. He also found hints about DLC missions.
- itsgamerdoc found a list of all weapons. He also learned the names of the high-end weapons. According to his reddit post, he found a total of 138 guns.
- He discovered in the files seaplanes and helicopters, which are equipped with mini-machine guns.
In the following video, which we do not wish to elaborate on, you will find details about the endgame story content, which was allegedly discovered in the 200,000 audio files. So definitely spoiler material!
You can find the reddit post where you can find all the lists and images here. At this point, it’s worth noting that all this information is unconfirmed. Furthermore, there is a possibility that the user has drawn incorrect conclusions from the data. Therefore, all of this should be taken with caution.
We won’t have to wait long until our agent journey begins. You can find the official start dates and server launches in this article. Then we can all get a first-hand experience of the game’s content. After all, that is much more fun than knowing everything in advance.
