In The Division, update 1.6 could expand the Dark Zone. According to a data mining leak, Central Park is being added.
Yesterday we reported on new data mining results from the Redditor iamunkn0wn. He found lines in the code that refer to a dedicated PvP mode, a kind of “conquest” or “control”, where agents must secure zones.
Apparently, encouraged by these findings, he delved even deeper into the files and presented further results on reddit a few hours ago that are equally interesting: The Central Park is in the data!
Will the gates to Central Park be opened?
The user states that he found the following lines in the current game client, which were reportedly introduced with update 1.5. They suggest that the Dark Zone will be expanded in the future, that a new area is being added: Central Park. Here are a few selected lines:
- Agent, we’ve started pushing further into the Dark Zone.
- We’re unlocking the gates that lead north towards Central Park
- The park is full. They can’t keep up with the dying
- all of the bodies, and dumping them in Central Park.
- and headed back for more. Jesus, I’ve never seen so much death
We already know that update 1.6 will bring major innovations and changes to PvP and the Dark Zone. If this leak is accurate, it could lead north to Central Park with 1.6 – where countless bodies from the virus pandemic apparently pile up.
The data miner also found passages that report on tactical SHD terminals and new cosmetic items.
Players have already glitched into Central Park
In March, some agents managed to reach locations outside the map using a glitch. However, these areas were not yet completed. There were issues with the game mechanics and sometimes physics failed.
This is how Central Park was also found. However, there was nothing to discover in the famous park, aside from a few trees. The lines in the game data are thus not the only hint that the agents’ journey could soon lead to Central Park.
