Patch 1.8.1 has been available for a week at The Division and we finally have a release date for Blackout: On April 23, the next Global Event starts.
Just now, the State of the Game aired on April 19, and today’s server maintenance fixed a problem in the underground. Until now, players could continue to obtain exotic weapons that are available from the special equipment vendor. This was supposed to be fixed with patch 1.8.1 and has finally been resolved.
Massive also finally announced the date for the new Global Event “Blackout.” Starting April 23, you can farm Global Event Credits for 7 days and buy special containers that contain Classified Sets.
You can pull these Gear Sets from the containers:
- DeadEye
- Tactician’s Authority
- D3 FNC Set – A tank set in 1.8 – This is how you keep your team alive
- Assault Gear of the Striker – This is how you create a top striker in 1.8

Additionally, Massive showed in a gameplay the special modifiers that will be active in Blackout.
This is how the new Global Event Blackout works
If you play your cards right, you’ll be a “one-hit wonder” in close combat and knock your enemies out with a single blow. This will be impressively accompanied by a shockwave and flying bodies. They wanted to take the opportunity to give the close combat attack a new role.
The modifiers for Blackout in detail:
- Blackout (Always active): Players receive shock ammunition that stuns your opponents. By running or shooting, you fill a charge indicator. You deal more damage the higher the charge is.
- Extreme Blackout (In addition to Blackout): Enemies can be killed in close combat through overload. If you miss the enemy or exceed your charge of 100%, players and allies will be stunned.
- Total Blackout (In addition to Blackout and Extreme Blackout): Your charge indicator empties faster when near group members.
There are also additional masks to be earned. These were also presented.

Vulcan, Tao and Rictus (Top Row) will be unlockable during Blackout, while the bottom row will come with Onslaught.
Once again, the modifiers for Onslaught:
- Onslaught (Always active): In addition to your damage, you cause “On Fire,” “Bleeding Wound,” and “Gassed” effects that you can change by reloading.
- Wild Onslaught (In addition to Onslaught): Certain effect types deal more damage to your enemies while they are resistant to others. Resistant enemies deal more damage.
- Brutal Onslaught (In addition to Onslaught and Wild Onslaught): By reloading, you can gain a damage bonus on a magazine if your teammates kill a vulnerable enemy within two seconds.
This GE does not have a release date yet, but is expected to only be released in June after patch 1.8.2.
