In the MMO shooter The Division, some weapons have emerged in recent weeks that are very popular among agents and frequently take center stage. We present five of these “best weapons”.
Since the launch of The Division, submachine guns have dominated at distances of up to about 20 meters. Therefore, an SMG is a must-have for close combat in every agent’s armory. For greater distances, most agents choose an assault rifle or a marksman rifle. Favorites have quickly been identified among these weapon types.
Shotguns and light machine guns are currently not very exciting in Ubisoft’s shared-world shooter, which is why none of them made it to the following overview of the “best weapons”.
We also do not include named weapons in the list: The “normal” high-end weapons can come with random talents, allowing players to tailor them to their individual playstyle. Therefore, they hold a higher value in the player community than those with fixed talents.
AUG A3 Para XS – an outstanding submachine gun
The submachine gun AUG A3 Para XS stands out at short distances. It has a high base damage, but its fire rate is slightly lower than, for example, the Vector. Nevertheless, it can deal a lot of damage in a short time.
A disadvantage is its small magazine size. However, this can be easily addressed with appropriate mods.
Opinions on this weapon are unanimous: the AUG A3 Para XS is a “beast” in PvP and PvE. Players praise its handling and stability, and even without mods, it feels good in hand; the recoil is manageable. Moreover, its range turns out to be better than many agents would have expected. It’s simply fun to stride through the post-apocalypse with it.
Shortly after the launch of The Division, the submachine gun Vector .45 ACP was deemed the best weapon in the game by some agents. Since then, the AUG has taken a bit of its place. Nevertheless, it is still considered an excellent weapon, one you can be happy about if you possess it with strong talents.
In comparison to the AUG, the base damage is lower, but the fire rate is slightly higher. The magazine size of 20 rounds is also a disadvantage, which can be compensated with mods.
The Vector .45 ACP is an excellent SMG, which agents picked up early in the game and which still enjoys great popularity. If you invest in this weapon, you won’t make a mistake.
M1A Series 1 – The “best marksman rifle” in The Division
We have extensively dealt with the M1A Series 1: We have already introduced it as a “headshot machine” or as the “best marksman rifle”. But why?
The M1A combines the advantages of fast-firing and slow-firing marksman rifles: in addition to a high fire rate (base value 300), it has strong stopping power. It hits your enemies “like a truck”. The magazine size of 10 can be improved with mods, allowing you to fire many high-damage rounds at enemies quickly – and with extreme precision.
As a result, according to numerous agents, it excels in PvE as well as in the Dark Zone. If you want to play a marksman rifle in The Division: the M1A Series 1 is currently the best choice.
SCAR-L – The best assault rifle in The Division under one condition
The assault rifles SCAR-L and SOCOM SCAR-L impress with high base damage, good optimal range, and fast reload speed. They are among the assault rifles that have a slow fire rate.
A significant disadvantage is the quickly widening crosshair of this weapon, making precise shots directly in succession impossible – especially not at range. However, since at close distances the submachine guns are superior to the assault rifles, the latter must excel at medium range and thus this disadvantage must be addressed.
Currently, the talent Balanced completely mitigates this issue: as a result, the crosshair does not spread at all, allowing you to achieve precise kills at range. Thus, the SCAR assault rifles become precise weapons of mass destruction.
AK-74 – Black Market version: The probably most popular assault rifle in The Division
Many agents resort to the AK-74 – Black Market version before facing the dangers of the post-apocalypse. Early after launch, it gained a reputation as one of the best weapons in the game.
Therefore, players had already advised to purchase the blueprint of this weapon: Because, with it, you can craft it as long as it takes to achieve the desired roll. Especially the handling of this weapon has won over the agents: with appropriate mods, the AK becomes extremely stable, allowing you to unload the entire magazine under sustained fire with almost no recoil.
The AK-74 – Black Market version is a slow-firing assault rifle that has the longest reload time of all assault rifles. Nonetheless, it remains popular and proves useful in nearly all situations.
“At some point” after update 1.2, we can expect weapon balance changes in The Division. Until then, the mentioned weapon types and specifically the presented weapons will continue to take the dominant role in the game.
