In The Division, Exotics will need improvements in the future. Massive is asking for your help.
The developers of The Division are already planning for the distant future.
In the near future, Update 1.7 will be released, which will introduce the classified gear pieces into the MMO shooter. These will be the “new best items” that you can hunt. They have better stats than all other gear pieces, which leads to: The current gear set pieces, the high ends, and the exotics will become outdated. Anyone who wants the best gear will have to leave these items behind and switch to the classified gear.
The exotics will lose significant value – and will need a serious boost from the buff bottle in a future update.
What Happens to Exotics in Update 1.7?
The problem: Massive is leaving the exotics and high ends behind with the introduction of classified gear. They will remain as they are now. We have reported that the classified gear pieces will dominate then.
While the exotics and high ends will still provide their special talents, anyone who wants to remain competitive will sooner or later have to switch to the new gear pieces that have higher main attributes.
Only one exotic will receive a rework with 1.7: the NinjaBike backpack. This was considered the worst exotic for months. With 1.7, it can function as an additional gear set piece for all equipped gear sets and unlock talent combinations that were previously unthinkable. More info in the link.
What Should Happen to Exotics in the Future?
Just over a week ago, community developer Yannick Banchereau admitted that exotics will lose value and significance in 1.7. However, it is conceivable that they will be revalued in the future.
A survey recently went live where you can share your opinion on the exotics with Massive.
First, you will answer general questions: What platform do you play on, how many gameplay hours do you have, what are your favorite activities?
Then it will be about exotic gear pieces and weapons. What do you think of the exotics, which are your favorite exotics? You will have to rank the items. Then you can indicate what you would change about the exotics and what you would improve.
Next, the survey will cover other topics, such as gear mods, cosmetic items, character customization options, and currencies.
