With Update 1.5 for The Division, the “Enemy Armor Damage” will also affect PvP. But is it really happening?
It has been the hot topic in recent days: Massive wants to change the Enemy Armor Damage with Update 1.5. This change was extensively tested on the PTS last week, with the result: The community is skeptical about whether this is a step in the right direction.
Two major changes were expected:
- The Enemy Armor Damage will also apply in PvP. The damage you inflict on other agents will now also depend on this value.
- The Enemy Armor Damage is to become a “Major Stat” and thus gain importance.
The goal of the latter change is for agents to make more decisions when creating their builds. Do I focus more on armor or enemy armor damage? Do I play offensively or defensively? This is how Massive wants to bring more variety into the game.
A plan that did not fully succeed after the PTS phase of 1.5. Because now the developers are backtracking.
“Enemy Armor Damage” stays active in PvP
Yesterday, Ubisoft’s community manager Gabe caused confusion in the reddit forum. He wrote in a thread that for Update 1.5, the changes to the Enemy Armor Damage that were tested on the public test servers would be reversed. It not only concerns the PvP implementation but also the plan to make the value a more significant stat. The value will remain as it currently is in The Division 1.4. They have listened to community feedback.
This statement brought joy and relief among agents. They feared that changes to this stat could ruin PvE again – which has finally been enjoyable to play since 1.4.
However, the community manager had to update his post shortly afterwards. The Enemy Armor Damage will indeed become active in PvP. However, they will not make it a “major stat”; he stands by this statement. He apologizes for the confusion.
In summary: As it currently stands, the Enemy Armor Damage itself does not change; it will only be used for damage calculation in PvP with 1.5. It remains a minor attribute found on talents or gear bonuses.
