Recently, a statement from the developers of The Division 2 caused quite a stir among fans. Items with the highest Gear Score should soon only be available through the Dark Zones. However, this does not appear to be the case.
What’s on the agenda for The Division 2: As the developers announced on April 17 in the latest issue of “State of the Game”, they are still intensively working on numerous improvements for The Division 2.
In the Title Update 3.0, which has now been postponed along with the first raid to May, a multitude of changes and fixes are set to be implemented in nearly all areas of the game. The focus is clearly on the balance.
This statement caused excitement: In this context, an adjustment was also mentioned that caused unrest among fans. Because in the future, the strongest gear should actually be exclusively available through the Dark Zones. There, items with a Gear Score of up to 515 can drop directly – but only there.
Currently, the cap for drops is Gear Score 500. Only through calibration can players increase their gear to 515. This caused great dissatisfaction among many fans, who expressed their anger on Reddit and other forums.
Many felt forced to soon visit the Dark Zone and engage in PvP if they want to obtain the best gear directly. This was quite bitter for the agents.
However, it seems not all details were mentioned in the stream.
Here you will soon get the strongest gear: Shortly after the stream and the first waves of outrage, the community manager UbiAmper spoke up in the official Division forum of Ubisoft. There, he responded to a post where a player complained about being forced to go to the Dark Zone for the best gear and engage in PvP.
UbiAmper stated among other things: “There was a lot to discuss in today’s stream. I want to start by saying that the raid will drop the gear with the highest Gear Score – not the Dark Zones.”
However, he did not reveal how high the Gear Score in the raid would be. It was only stated: More will be announced.
He then continued: “Even though we want to experiment with rewards in the Dark Zones, we take every feedback into account. It is still a very early stage and we want to see how the new content and loot play out live first. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make any changes.”
How fans are reacting: Many fans were pleased and grateful for this clarification. It seems that the Dark Zone will not be a must if one wants to obtain the strongest gear in the game. Additionally, it is now known that a higher Gear Score will be available soon.
However, there was also criticism. Many fans cannot explain why such an important detail was not mentioned in the stream. After all, it was explicitly stated that there would no longer be direct 515 drops at any other locations outside the Dark Zones.
Some believe that Massive wants to quickly manage the damage after the community manager’s statement following the initial waves of outrage and that the higher Gear Score in the raid was not planned at all. Or the developers really don’t know what they are doing or are poorly communicating with each other – which also casts a bad light on them.
