In The Division 2 , developers Massive want to address the biggest issues that plague the community. Update 6 will primarily focus on loot and loot management. To get help with this, Massive will reconvene the Elite Task Force (ETF), invite players, and fly to Sweden.
Yesterday, the “State of the Game” took place. Here, Massive addresses the community.
After the last rounds focused on Episode 1, this time it was mainly about “housekeeping” tasks, as The Division 2 needs to be tidied up and maintained at the moment.
Many bugs have been fixed, but some remain
This has already happened: After Update 5 and Episode 1, smaller server maintenance and updates have already been released. Here, Massive has primarily focused on issues in The Division 2 that the patch brought:
- Massive closed an exploit that allowed players to receive items when they shot at a supply drop
- the long loading times on the PC version have been resolved – some complained about 5 minutes of waiting time before they could start
- there were difficulties with the crafting station, where some players could not upgrade to 500
- additionally, players were still dealing with problems regarding backpack trophies, raid keys, and the leaderboard
All of this has now been repaired or has at least been addressed in two patches this week. The first patch came on Tuesday, the second on Thursday morning.
What issues are still present? At the moment, says Massive, there are challenges:
- with the audio – sometimes the sound is too fast or strange – they are working on it and want to bring a fix soon
- with bullet registration – Massive has already worked on it, but players continue to report issues. The team is also addressing this
- there is a visual bug in the theater settlement
- with collectibles – some cannot be found. Massive is also working on this
Update 6 is supposed to fix the major issues of The Division 2
This is what happens next: Next, Update 6 is on the agenda, which is supposed to be released before Episode 2. Episode 2 is expected in the “fall,” which means Update 6 should be around September/October.
Update 6 is aimed at the major issues of the community:
- the role playing in the endgame
- how players obtain gear
- how players organize their inventory
- how all the new changes fit together in PvE and PvP

This is how Massive wants to reach experts: To receive as much feedback as possible, they will hold a workshop with the ETF (Elite Task Force). Passionate players of The Division 2 will be able to apply openly for this.
How players can specifically apply for the ETF and the timeline Massive is aiming for will be announced soon.
The elite players will then be flown to Sweden and will discuss the changes for Season 6 with the team.
The Elite Task Force was previously active in The Division 1 – some well-known YouTubers were involved. They often discussed changes, even though they weren’t supposed to.
What are the problems about? The main problem of The Division 2 is currently seen by many as the overwhelming amount of items players receive in activities, but having difficulties recognizing and sorting the loot.
Especially when players collect multiple sets for different builds, it becomes challenging to keep track of which item is better than the current item they are using for the build.
Moreover, it is difficult for players to work towards a build, as the loot seems so random.
And for someone who is out of touch with The Division 2, the system makes it very hard to get back into the online shooter.
Apparently, Update 6 is set to address this, and they want to recruit the experts for this.
For now, Massive is going on a summer break with the State of the Game during August. The team plans to return to the State of the Game towards the end of August. It is likely to be quieter around The Division 2 in the coming weeks.
However, Massive assures that they are still reading player feedback, are reachable through the known channels, and are talking with players.
