The Division 2 is, like its predecessor, an online game primarily designed for group gameplay. Many agents are therefore wondering whether the title will still be suitable for solo players. This is what Massive says.
So far, the announcements for The Division 2 are promising. Raids for 8 players, a new clan system, and other features are supposed to simplify collaboration among players. But will solo players also get their share?
According to Massive: Yes, solo players can, with a few compromises, find happiness in The Division 2.

It was like this in The Division 1
In The Division 1, much could be done solo: In the first part, it is possible to master nearly all endgame activities solo. For many, however, this is quite a tough challenge, especially the incursions and missions on legendary difficulty are completed by very few alone.
Nevertheless, no matter if
- missions (up to the challenging level),
- high-profile targets,
- the underground,
- or survival,
almost everything is doable with the right equipment and adjusted playstyle. With the world tiers, it is also possible to dynamically adjust the difficulty level according to personal preferences and thus gradually explore the maximum.
But the balance was tricky: Nevertheless, there have always been discussions about balance. Players who are organized in groups and clans find the current endgame nearly too easy, while solo players, who do not want to invest that much time, often perceive the game as too hard.
A “robust”, extensive campaign with some mysteries
In The Division 2, one can complete the campaign solo: As in The Division 1, it will be possible to finish the story campaign of the second part solo – including endgame activities, as GamingBolt learned from Associate Creative Director, Chadi El-Zibaoui:
The game is completely playable solo, even in-game activities. There will be certain activities, like the eight-man raids- of course, for this type of challenge players will be grouped with friends. But we have a very robust campaign, a deep narrative, lots of mysteries. So, if you’re solo player, you’ll have a lot to explore in the campaign. From day one we’ll really be delivering content for all kinds of gear. Not just for the hardcore fans, but even if you’re a solo player.
Solo players will again be offered several narrative elements, including some mysteries. From the release onward, the aim is to provide enough content for all player types, including solo agents.
What about activities like the raid? Of course, there will be endgame content that is likely not easy to complete alone. The newly announced raid for 8 players is one example.
This is meant to be the ultimate challenge for players, so it would certainly be a bit strange if this could be done solo.

It will be exciting to see how Massive will balance the difficulty level for single and team players this time. There is currently no concrete information on this. We will keep you updated.
