The Dev Blog for The Division 2 gives us the first info about the weapon talents and the Exotics. This is what you need to know.
Recently, Massive released the first entry to the Dev Blog for The Division 2. This discusses everything related to weapon categories, mods, and grenades.
There were also some details about the weapon talents. These are supposed to have a greater impact on your builds.
For the first time, we also received info about the Exotics and what the developers are aiming for with these in The Division 2.

How weapon talents are being revised
In The Division 2, weapon talents are supposed to be significantly more complex and thus have a greater influence on your builds.
New requirements for weapon talents: In The Division 2, almost anything can serve as a prerequisite to unlock a talent. Whether it is
- a piece of gear from a brand,
- gear with specific attributes
- or a specific type of weapon that is equipped.
Thus, not only your specialization influences which talents you unlock, but also your gear and weapon choice can be crucial. What all weapons have in common are the so-called “Gameplay Themes”.
What are the “Gameplay Themes”? Every weapon has a specific “theme”. This should clarify to players the utility of the weapon and whether it fits their desired playstyle or not.
Unfortunately, the blog does not specify what exactly this is about.

Weapons receive display aid for talents
Additionally, all weapons will receive an Augmented Reality Tracker.
What is the Tracker about? This gadget is supposed to provide players with certain display aids in combat depending on the talent, such as how many hits are needed to activate a talent. This should make them clearer for the players.
Something similar was already present in The Division 1 with the Predator set. To activate the set bonus, one has to land ten hits. The missing hits are displayed by a counter on the weapon.
More effort for the design of the Exotics
Exotic weapons will be back in The Division 2. This time, it seems that significantly more effort is being invested in them.
What is known about the Exotics in The Division 2: Unfortunately, there are no concrete info in the blog. Exotics are supposed to visually, narratively, and gameplay-wise differ significantly from other weapons and blend into the story of The Division 2.
