The Division 2 attracts various characters to the devastated Washington with its multiplayer elements. Check out what kinds of player types the apocalypse has produced and what you can learn from them.
What is The Division 2 for a game? The Division 2 is a realistic loot shooter developed by Ubisoft’s Swedish studio Massive. The title is set in a not-so-distant future where the Division agents try to free the former capital of the USA from anarchic forces after an apocalypse.
The game’s motivation is to build efficient or at least enjoyable equipment combinations, called builds. Through missions and projects, agents collect increasingly better gear and confront the dangers of the collapsing society.
Everyone copes with these circumstances in their own way, and The Division 2 encourages players to show their true gaming face. Here’s a not-so-serious overview of the different player types in the post-apocalyptic shooter.
The Division 2 community is a colorful bunch
What player types are there? In Division 2, hardcore tacticians and flower pickers collide. The community is a colorful mix of nice people who enjoy scouring the ruined metropolis, as well as spoiling otherwise successful bandit raids.
The Tactician
What is the Tactician like? When you include a Tactician in your team, you’re doing everything right. However, from that moment on, you can’t seem to do anything right. Skill usage, unnecessary damage, or hasty attacks in new sections – Every action will be meticulously questioned and scrutinized for inefficiency.
Even if you’ve successfully completed a round full of strategic cover changes and efficient skill uses, it’s certain that a little sigh will be heard at the assessment of accuracy. Nothing below 75% is acceptable.
How to deal with Tacticians: This type of player wants to improve their game while bringing the team along. Get motivated if you want, or profit for as long as possible from the insidious methods of their attacks. But set boundaries and make it clear from the start that regulating your bathroom behavior is absolutely out of the question!
Raid compatibility: Absolutely given!
The Builders
What defines the Builders? Always on the lookout for the latest build trends and further min-max opportunities, the game is virtually a complicated science in their eyes. Builders can philosophize for hours about the best combinations of talents, attributes, or weapons, thereby driving up the time spent on the social points of MMOs in unprecedented heights.
With their expertise, they often mask a lack of technical skills, but still somehow manage to escape tricky situations with their 20k-damage striker drone. Additionally, this player type exhibits a strong tendency to spontaneously freeze when discovering new gear items.
How to deal with Builders: Armed with value charts and calculators, the Builder’s most dangerous weapon is the game meta. Every little disparaging comment about your sidearm should raise your awareness if you also seek optimization. However, once you let their obsession overtake you, you’ll quickly forfeit bold suggestions regarding build quality.
Raid compatibility: Stochastically tested!
The Globetrotter
How does the Globetrotter experience Division 2? A relaxed teammate with an eye for beauty. Every tiny, lovingly crafted detail from the developers is recognized and admired down to the last polygon. This player type lives for the little nuances in The Division 2 and loves to get lost in the visual particularities that digital Washington offers at every corner.
Always on the lookout for snapshots, they don’t miss a chance for good motives. When a good spot for a photo is found, all that’s missing is the picnic emote to properly celebrate the wait for the scenically valuable sunset.
How to deal with the Globetrotter: With a Globetrotter, the pace of the game slows a bit, and enemies become a side issue. Let them show you cool places and collectible items like charms or hidden paintings. If you just want to quickly grab your reward, it’s better not to take one of these delicate souls on the hunt.
Raid compatibility: Should be demonstrated by a group photo from the first raid completion!
The Colorful
What has gotten into the colorful agents? A class all of their own are the flip-flop wearing rainbow agents. Having fought into the endgame without a single quiet kill and plenty of noise, this player type needs every help they can get. Never out alone, fun and teasing their team colleagues are the focus of their Division mission.
Phantom fire, suddenly exploding barrels, and strange equipment combinations, the flamboyant player character makes you think with their appearance and truly brings a splash of color to the game. However, they should never team up with a Tactician; this combination bears more explosives than a full magazine of grenade launchers.
How to deal with the Colorful: If you can’t use a clown in your team, you should keep your distance from the flashy special agents. However, if you can handle a little relaxation between the ruthless grind and the build spreadsheets, take a deep breath and let their latest half-knowledge about the current patch bring a smile to your face.
Raid compatibility: Seriously doubted!
The Service Game Hopper
What’s going on with the multi-game player? Barely in the game and already stressed. With three ongoing events under their belt, the Service Game Hopper is always on the move between different live-service games, the number of which is only limited by their hard drive capacity.
With carefree ease, they farm known loot spots and play daily activities at a motivating pace. Barely logged in, they’re already almost on the move to the next colorful adventure, but always happy to see the familiar faces of their short-term relationships.
How to deal with the Service Game Hopper: Remember their farming methods and you might even find room for improvements. Gather information from other games that might be interesting to you and use their expertise for a successful entry into a new franchise. If this player type isn’t loyal enough for you, an inappropriate remark about the last Elder Scrolls Online update will make sure you never hear from them again.
Raid compatibility: Confirmed for four MMOs!
The Old Timer
What can be expected from the old-timers? With the pure leisure of flowing ketchup, the old-timers navigate through the occupied corners of the city. Having been there since the early hours of Division 1, veterans often have a derogatory anecdote about the new mechanics of the second part and always conclude how good Division 1 was in the end.
This player type has two types of gaming sessions. The first is relatively short, as it is usually interrupted by important real-life issues or unexpectedly early bedtimes. In the second, however, the advantage of a body worn down by work coffee shows, as they can use the free and planned time for gaming well into the late-night hours with full concentration.
How to deal with the old-timer: We’ll all eventually become this player type. Listen to their little stories and note traits and sounds you don’t want to adopt in old age. If you have a bit more time and don’t mind the intrusive aroma of Eau de Cologne, trips with this type of player can be quite pleasant.
Raid compatibility: First-try excluded!
The Division 2 offers many different player types, and everyone should give new players the chance to prove themselves – whether through gameplay or character. Who knows what exciting experiences or stories this player has to offer.
Have you recognized any clan colleagues? What player types have you encountered?
