In The Division 2, a user has rummaged through hidden audio files. He found hints about the next months in terms of story and a new mode where players can conquer a skyscraper. This reminds him of Underground, a popular endless mode from the first installment.
Update 27.5.: Ubisoft has confirmed the accuracy of the information in this article. It is said that there were “unfortunately” more details in the build than originally intended.
Where the information comes from: On May 22, The Division received the new Title Update 10 on the test server. Players can download this new version. A reddit user did this and examined the files, discovering audio data that isn’t in the game yet but could hint at future content.
Some of these new audio files are recorded by the known speakers, while others are still placeholders.
There are two possible scenarios for why these audio files are in the PTS data:
- they could be “remnants from earlier” that will never make it into the game
- or they are indications of what will happen in The Division 2 in the coming months.
This could be the endless mode: The user says there are audio files of Kelso talking about a skyscraper in New York City that agents must conquer “floor by floor”. There would be “safe floors”: Here you can leave the building.
The user then outlines a scenario of how the mode could play out:
- the skyscraper has 100 floors
- every 10th floor would be a safe floor, to which you are sent back if you fail
- from the 80th floor onward there would be no safe floors left and you would have to complete the last 20 floors in a row
The interesting part is that someone on reddit proposed such a mode as “Underground 2.0”: As a replayable endless content.
The Division 2 is often criticized for the fact that these modes are missing in the second installment, which were a significant part of the appeal in the first. The “Expeditions” cannot fulfill this in The Division 2.

Details for Manhunt missions in the coming months
