Why LMGs at all? If you have played through the story around the Warlords expansion with Aaron Keener and have reached the endgame, you may have noticed – especially at higher difficulty levels the enemies can become real bullet sponges.
That’s why many players gladly resort to light machine guns (LMGs) there. They deal considerable DPS and have a large magazine, making it easier to combat stronger enemies. Therefore, they can be a strong alternative to assault rifles or SMGs with the right build.
What are currently the strongest LMGs? Currently, these include the MG5 and the IWI Negev – despite its recent nerf. Both MGs are very strong, but the MG5 has a more manageable recoil, plus a higher base damage is possible. However, the IWI has a larger magazine.
With these talents, you can make the strongest LMGs even better
The biggest weakness of LMGs: Machine guns are generally a solid weapon class but have a significant drawback – the extremely long reload times. This affects not only the DPS but can also be deadly in some situations.
These 2 talents are the key: However, there are 2 talents that can either reduce or even completely negate this weakness. These are:
- Steady Hands
- and Fast Hands
Many agents, however, are not aware of these talents or ignore them in favor of seemingly stronger talents. This is a mistake.
What makes Steady Hands so good: If you have this talent on the IWI Negev, for example, this high-end weapon will essentially be as powerful as the weapon exotic Bullet King with the right playstyle – meaning you won’t need to reload at all.
With this talent, you gain a stack of +1% on precision and stability with every hit. Once you reach 100 stacks, the bonus effect disappears, but the magazine is completely refilled.
So you don’t even need to hit every shot with the IWI. As long as you land 100 hits with the 150-round magazine of the IWI, it will be automatically refilled. Since this high-end MG provides more precision and more stability than the Bullet King, it is ultimately even better than the exotic and keeps the slot open for another exotic weapon.
What’s interesting is that some players have noticed that the ammunition is not drawn from reserves but essentially generated from nowhere. So you never run out of ammo. Whether this is intended remains to be seen. It’s usually something that should be unique to the Bullet King exotic.
What makes Fast Hands so good: This talent, when used correctly, ensures that you have your MG ready for action faster and can intervene in the fight when you need to reload.
If you have Fast Hands on the MG5, which currently has one of the highest DPS values in the game, you can reload the MG faster than some assault rifles.
With Fast Hands, you gain a 4% stack on reload speed with every critical hit. This effect can stack up to a maximum of 40 stacks. This can significantly reduce the reload time, which is the biggest weakness of an MG.
Reloading faster indirectly increases the DPS because you spend less time reloading and more time dealing damage.
