In The Division 2, there is a curious bug that currently provides you with extra special ammunition. However, not everyone wants to take advantage of this opportunity.
This is about the bug: As resourceful agents have discovered, it is currently possible in The Division 2 to obtain special ammunition through indirect means.
It seems that a bug is responsible for the current situation where ammunition for the individual weapons of the various specializations, like the Gunner, can drop when killing animals.
Previously, killing animals in the game was not rewarded, even though all animals in the game can be hunted. In addition, numerous animal lovers are repeatedly calling for more love for dogs. They want to pet them, feed them, or even take them to the operations base, but not kill them.
Many find it curious and ironic that dogs are now a reliable source of special ammunition – even if it is due to a bug.
How to currently get additional special ammunition: The animals are currently another source of this coveted ammunition. If you kill them, they often drop special ammunition. However, not all animals seem to drop ammunition.
Among others, dogs, eagles, or rats can refill your special ammunition supplies. However, you will get nothing from crows or deer.
If you kill an animal and it doesn’t drop ammunition, it helps to fill a bar, which ultimately leads to a guaranteed special ammunition drop. Normally, this bar, introduced with Title Update 4, only fills up by killing enemies.
When will this bug be fixed? It was already clear that it must be a bug since the last State of the Game. There, the developers mentioned after the release of Title Update 4 that “killing animals now apparently grants special ammunition.” So it’s not a planned feature.
It was probably also intended to fix this problem during the maintenance last Friday. However, that did not happen. This fix was not included in the patch notes, and animal kills still drop special ammunition.
How long this will remain the case is currently unclear. However, you can still get additional special ammunition if your supplies run low and you can bring yourself to do it.
What do the fans say? Fans have mixed feelings about this additional “source” of special ammunition. Some do not want to raise a hand or a weapon against virtual animals, even if it means giving up the coveted and scarce ammunition.
Others take it with humor. Some emphasize that you should save this ammunition well before John Wick pays a visit to the “animal lovers”.
Still others see it as a welcome opportunity to replenish their scarce special ammunition more quickly. Killing virtual animals for that is not a problem. After all, this is explicitly intended by the game, as all representatives of the animal world can be hunted. Now it’s finally rewarded.
Moreover, it should not bother an agent, some of whom already have more than 1,000 people on their conscience, to shoot an animal in times of need.
What do you think of this bug? Will you try your hand at hunting to stock up on your special ammunition?
