Today, on September 24th, the servers of The Division 2 are down. Massive is rolling out an update during the maintenance. Is a new clothing event starting today?
These are the important times today: Normally, server maintenance for The Division 2 takes place on Thursdays. However, this week the maintenance is happening today, Tuesday, September 24th. Massive plans to release update 5.2.
- The servers will go down at 9:30 AM. You will not be able to log in. If you are in the game, you will be kicked.
- The servers should come back online around 12:30 PM.
- During this maintenance, update 5.2 will be made available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Keep in mind that Massive has shown in the past that these times are not set in stone. The servers might come back online earlier or later.
What is changing today, on September 24th?
This is what Massive says: The patch notes for update 5.2 will be revealed during the maintenance. We will update them here promptly as soon as they are known.
Update: The patch notes are now available. Massive confirms that the Explorers clothing event will go live as soon as the servers come online. Additionally:
- Improvements have been made for playing the game using DirectX 12
- An exploit is being fixed that allowed players to obtain too much armor
- A problem is being fixed where the game sometimes crashed when navigating the map menus.
What could change? In the comments, many agents are certain that update 5.2 will kick off a new clothing event today. Additionally, some bug fixes might be included.
What kind of event is this? Last week, there were “communication difficulties” between Massive and some regional social media accounts of The Division 2. These teased a clothing event for the current week, showcasing several outfits to be available soon, such as this space explorer suit:
The main account of The Division 2 did not post anything about such an event. Shortly after, Massive apologized for the confusion. The event will start before the upcoming weekend, yes, but they did not specify exactly when.
If there is an update along with server downtime today, September 24th, it is quite likely that the event will start immediately after the servers come back online.
