Ubisoft narrowed down the release of The Division 2 at its investors’ conference. The sequel to the post-apocalyptic MMO shooter is expected to arrive soon and will offer more content at launch this time.
When is The Division 2 expected to release? Ubisoft’s CFO Alain Martinez forecasted the first quarter of 2019. This means we can expect the second installment of The Division by March 31 at the latest, unless there are further delays.
Focus on Endgame: According to Martinez, they feel that they have gotten the hang of The Division; especially the endgame is now better. Following the positive reactions to Patch 1.8, they feel confident and can now rely on tools that allow for providing a much better game.
The MMO shooter is set to entertain players for years
More content than the predecessor: During the conference call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also spoke. He said that they learned from the mistakes and endgame bottlenecks at the launch of The Division and that the development team is working hard to provide a lot of content for the release of The Division 2.
And they want to be able to quickly add more content post-launch as well, for years to come. Players should feel engaged with the MMO for a long time. The whole experience gained from The Division is to be put into The Division 2 to ensure that it becomes a “fantastic sequel,” according to Guillemot.
The Division 2 seems to be a big deal: At the announcement in early March 2018, it was stated that The Division 2 has been in development for 2 years. In addition to Massive Entertainment, 5 other teams are working on the upcoming MMO shooter. Allegedly, a total of 1000 people are working on The Division 2.
The next information will be coming soon: There will be a presentation about The Division 2 at E3.
The Division 1 is not over yet: Although the second part may be forthcoming, Ubisoft wants to give agents something to do in The Division 1 until then. With Shields, new content is coming to the game where achievements will be hunted, which are supposed to lead to rewards in The Division 2. More about this here:
