There is bad news for everyone hoping for fresh information about the future of the game in The Division 2 today. Massive has spontaneously postponed the State of the Game this Wednesday.
What information was promised? Last week, Massive ceremoniously announced that they would return from the long summer break on September 4. On this day – today – a State of the Game was supposed to take place at 5 PM. This is the regular livestream by Massive, where they talk about the current state and future of The Division 2. This weekly livestream was absent throughout August.
Massive promised to present a specific schedule in today’s stream, detailing when to expect what information in September as they approach the next title update. They want to discuss all upcoming changes in advance. Some agents hoped for information about the timeframe in which the title update is expected to be released.
What changes are coming in The Division 2? In the future, some aspects of The Division 2 will be overhauled. They promised changes to the endgame, loot, PvP, inventory, and other areas in the game. Agents expected that Massive would also provide insight into this today.
But that won’t happen this week.
State of the Game will return next week
This is what Massive says now: Shortly before returning from the summer break, Massive tweeted today just before 2 PM: “Today’s State of the Game has unfortunately been postponed.”
The livestream is canceled. The agents have to be patient until the important new information arrives.
Massive adds that they will be back next week. Then there should be news about the upcoming changes.
Why this spontaneous cancellation of today’s stream occurred is not known. We only know that today an ETF workshop begins, where selected community representatives will discuss the future of The Division 2 at the Massive studio. Perhaps the developers are waiting for the ETF phase to finish before they communicate specific statements about upcoming changes.
This is how agents are reacting: On Twitter, agents are responding in the comments with partly crushing criticism. While some express their disappointment with sad emoticons or silly memes, others write sarcastically:

- or: “Well, that’s not surprising, but disappointing.”
- or: “Absolutely ridiculous. You can’t even get this right. The last of your community have relied on this and you messed it up. Very sad.”
And others write that they now expect at least a short statement from Massive, providing an overview of the status of the next update.
