After a long silence, there is finally news about The Division 2. In a community update, Ubisoft announced that they are postponing the announced new content until January 2022. We at MeinMMO show you the updated roadmap.
What was going on with The Division 2? At the beginning of 2021, The Division 2 was actually considered “dead”. The last season had ended and no new content had been announced.
But then Ubisoft surprised with the announcement that new content will indeed follow. Even developer Massive themselves were surprised back then. Actually, this new content was supposed to be released this year.
However, it stayed suspiciously quiet for a long time, players have been waiting for news for over half a year now. Although the seasons in The Division 2 have been brought back and the last Season 7 is currently running. Aside from that, there was no information from Ubisoft.
Now there is finally a blog post that at least brings a bit of clarity and gives a small outlook on how and when it will continue.
New content in February 2022 with game mode and endgame changes
What the developers say: In the blog post on the official website (via ubisoft.com) about The Division 2, the team comments on the current state of the game and what the roadmap looks like.
They are aware that they have been particularly quiet in recent months and thank the fans for their continued support. Since then, they have been working hard on the new content for the game.
What can you expect? In the developer update, there is a small outlook on the content that should come into the game. The new Title Update will be one of the most ambitious yet.
The following content is planned:
- A new game mode
- Extensive changes to the endgame and other features
When should it get started? The developers announce that the new content is supposed to be released in February 2022. A presentation will take place in January.
Additionally, before the release in February, the “Player Test Servers” (PTS) are set to return, where the new content can be tested in advance. The PTS were previously only available on PC.
Why are the contents postponed? The postponement allows the developers to “deliver the best quality for this new content”. No specific reasons are given.
Monthly developer updates return, specializations will be revamped
What else do the developers say? In addition to the postponement, it was also confirmed that the “Intelligence Annex Initiative” is returning. In these monthly updates, the developers inform about the current state of the game.
The first episode is coming on October 28. It will cover the next update in which the specializations will be revamped.
In December, Season 7 will also end and there should be a new event where some of the most popular global events will return.
There will also be new rewards and a new apparel event in which players can unlock various cosmetic items.
