Are we soon going to fight against zombies in The Division 2? Players have recently found a hint that, within the framework of Season 1, agents might indeed have to face the undead.
What about zombies in The Division 2? Currently, there are no zombies in the game. While The Division 2 is set in a post-apocalyptic world, it uses a more realistic scenario based in the USA after a virus outbreak.
However, zombies and the post-apocalypse often go hand in hand for many. This is why the desire for zombies in the Division series has been circulating through the community for quite some time. Many fans have wanted undead enemies to make life even harder for the agents since the first installment. After all, the setting would be perfect for it.
This wish could possibly come true – and quite soon.
What have players discovered? Recently, the Warlords expansion was released for The Division 2, and Season 1 is currently underway. In its second year, The Division 2 is moving to a seasonal content model – just like Destiny 2.
The season consists of numerous events, with something new to do every week. And one such event provides, in the eyes of some players, a hint at a potential introduction of zombies.
What is this hint about? In the game, one can already view the progression of the season and its events. There, they stumbled upon an event that, while starting in more than 6 weeks, sounds quite intriguing.
This is a global event called Reanimated. The description states: “A new technology enables opponents to be revived after death. This reanimation can only be prevented by disrupting the brain’s response with precise headshots.”
Body shots apparently have little effect; the living dead can only be taken down with headshots – for some fans, this clearly sounds like zombies.
How likely is the introduction of zombies? The description does not reveal anything more about the event. Furthermore, there have not been any additional updates from Massive.
Many players are still not quite sure what to expect overall. Some joke that it will be an event where every enemy is an elite healer from Black Tusk, and the bullet sponges, which are already nearly unbeatable, will then turn into an indestructible undead army.
Others can hardly get on board with the idea of zombies in The Division 2 and would rather wish for anything else – just not for it to happen.
On the other hand, others would be very excited about the introduction of the undead and are already raving about how atmospheric battles against zombies would take place in bad weather or in a nighttime New York and D.C.

But even if it doesn’t sound that far-fetched – whether it is actually zombies or not remains to be seen. It remains exciting.

What if I don’t like zombies? If zombies do indeed come with the Reanimated event, it could only be for a limited time – possibly as a kind of test. Because the events within Season 1 run for a week each in The Division.
And if you generally don’t like zombies, that shouldn’t be a problem either. Because this event is optional. You must specifically activate it to participate. If you don’t feel like it, you can still enjoy the regular Division 2 experience – which I currently like much more than Destiny 2.
