The MMO shooter The Division 2 is apparently planning a major expansion for 2020 called “Warlords of New York”. Ubisoft is expected to present it tonight, but a leak from the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store has already revealed the key details.
This is the current status of The Division 2: Year 1 of The Division 2 is now coming to an end. There is still Episode 3 planned, which will bring a 6th specialization in February and will lead players to Coney Island.
Additionally, larger updates are planned that aim to overhaul the loot in The Division 2 and get it sorted out. This should happen “after February 2020.”
How things will continue from March 2020 in The Division 2 has not been known until now. But that should change tonight.
Ubisoft talks about the future of The Division 2 tonight
This is the official announcement: Ubisoft will hold a major reveal stream tonight starting at 8 PM on Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer to present the future of The Division 2.
It has already been suggested that Ubisoft will show more than just The Division 2 Episode 3, which most of the information is already known about. They did not reveal exactly what they want to present, but called it an expansion.
Leak reveals “Warlords of New York”, the new expansion
This is what the leaks say: Users on Reddit have already extracted information from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. There is said to be a major expansion coming for The Division 2. Players will likely have to purchase it again.
This is what is known about the expansion:
- it is said to be called “Warlords of New York”
- it will bring a new story campaign and open world in New York
- there will be a new progression system with a level cap of 40
- it includes new tactical options, exotics, gear, and skills
- it brings an expanded endgame with 3-month seasons for The Division 2
What is the campaign about? It is said that Aaron Keener has taken over Lower Manhattan. He is supported by 4 highly talented and loyal lieutenants.
They were trained by the Division themselves, but have renounced its ideals and are now the most dangerous enemies the agents have ever encountered.
Additionally, Ubisoft apparently wants to offer a “Level 30” boost, which saves players from leveling with a purchase and unlocks all 6 specializations. This boost is included with many other goodies in an “Ultimate Edition.”
It is said that this expansion will be available for purchase starting March 3rd. When it will launch is not yet known. Apparently, the expansion will also include the changes to the game systems that Massive has outlined recently.

Update 9:30 PM: The live stream has meanwhile finished. The information from the leak has been fully confirmed. The most important new information is:
- The release of Warlords of New York is on March 3rd, 2020
- once the campaign in New York has started, players will not be able to return to Washington until the campaign has been completed
- the map is limited to Lower Manhattan in New York City – the city has been ravaged by a hurricane. There are said to be 4 new districts that players do not know from The Division 1
- the Rikers and Cleaners return as factions – in addition, there is a new group called “Peacekeepers” made up of hardened survivors and former members of the JTF
- The expansion costs 29.99€ for the smallest version – the large “Ultimate Edition” with many goodies and The Division 2 base game costs 79.99€
