The new Title Update 9 brought not only various changes and fixes for The Division 2, but finally also a concrete hint about the 2nd raid. It looks like it will launch soon.
Wait, a new raid? There was something: Currently, The Division 2 only offers one raid – Operation: Dark Hours. However, the game was supposed to have a 2nd raid long ago. This was originally planned as part of the 2nd DLC of Year 1, Episode 2 – The Last Castle, as well as Title Update 6.
But the game had other problems at that time that needed fixing before releasing a new raid, and those issues are also affecting it. Thus, the 2nd raid was postponed by the developers to spring 2020.
Since then, this top PvE activity has been rather quiet. Until today. Because after the big new Title Update 9 (TU9) has been released today, in-game hints about the postponed raid have emerged. We summarize what is known so far.
These hints have now emerged: If you go to the helicopter pilot on the elevated platform at the White House or look at the raid section in the group management, you will notice that a new tab has been added today.
This is located to the right of Operation: Dark Hours. An industrial area is shown there, with the heading “Coming Soon”. In addition, there is a brief accompanying text.
What speaks for the raid? First of all, that a new tab has been added in the raid section. Furthermore, the background image and the text provide additional hints.
Thus, the 2nd raid has already been referred to as a Foundry raid by the developers, meaning a foundry raid. There, players were supposed to encounter the True Sons, as was once mentioned in an earlier presentation at E3 2019. A first concept art was also already shown back then:
The background image of the new raid tab could also very well depict a foundry. Additionally, the accompanying text mentions that some workers had set up a camp in a metal foundry and were modifying the machines to produce vital items. The True Sons apparently didn’t like that. They killed most of the workers (and apparently nested there).
Everything fits together.
When will the new raid start? There is no exact date yet, but it cannot be long now. After a long delay, Massive would hardly write “Coming Soon” if players still had to wait a long time for the raid. Some hope that further details will be revealed in the upcoming State of the Game on April 22.
Do you need the Warlords expansion for the 2nd raid? No, the new raid will not require the Warlords of New York expansion.
It will be released as free content and originally counts towards Year 1 content of The Division 2. Even if you only own the base game, you can tackle the 2nd raid.
The raid will therefore be playable with both level systems. There will be a version for agents at equipment level 515 (base game) and one for agents at level 40 (Warlords expansion).
