In The Division 2, you can hunt for the rifle Merciless. This is how you obtain the exotic weapon.
In The Division 2, you obtain Exotics by
- searching for various components and a blueprint to craft the Exotic at the crafting station – like the Snitch
- getting it as a random drop
The Merciless is one of those random drop Exotics. It is an exotic rifle that is said to be quite merciless according to the translation into German.
Location of Merciless
This is how you obtain the exotic weapon: The Merciless is not a guaranteed drop. You need luck to get the weapon. According to user reports, you can do the following to force luck:
- Since the Merciless is a Hyena weapon, you need to play missions where Hyena bosses are waiting for you. These bosses can drop the weapon. Allegedly, not only mission bosses but also bounty targets can make the weapon drop.
- Confirmed and reliable missions are Jefferson Trade Center and the Bank Headquarters.
- Users report that at Jefferson Trade Center, you can get the weapon relatively quickly (for example, after the 3rd run).
- You must have reached endgame (be level 30).
- Ideally, play the missions on Hard or Challenging difficulty, as the chance is said to be higher.
With a bit of luck, the weapon will then lie in front of you on the ground:
The perks make Merciless so merciless
This is Merciless: It is an exotic rifle. This means that the weapon is not fired automatically; you have to press the fire button for each shot – with the Merciless having a particular feature.
The rate of fire is 260, and the magazine size is 30.
These are the talents of the weapon: The talents allow you an exciting, “merciless” playstyle:
- Binary Trigger: The weapon fires one bullet each time you press the fire button and when you release it. The Merciless has a special shooting mechanic that allows you to fire bullets quite quickly.
- Guerilla Warfare: When you press the fire button, a “primer bullet” is fired that sticks in the target. When you release the fire button, the second bullet is a “detonator bullet” that makes all primer bullets in the target explode.
Each primer bullet in the target increases the damage per primer bullet by +75% when the primers explode. In other words, the more primers you sink into the target before you let them explode, the more Boom!
Only one enemy can accumulate primers. The maximum is 5 primers on the enemy.
You should use this talent best against tough boss enemies. Shoot the primer bullet into the boss and when you release the fire button, shoot the detonator bullet into the empty space or at another enemy. Stack 5 primers in the boss and then blow him up.
According to users, a damage of over 1 million is possible during the explosion if you skill accordingly. You can see the talent effect here in the video from Willis Gaming (starting at minute 3:00), where he manages over 644,000 damage (for comparison: an exploding primer inflicts 47,000 damage):
This is how you can fill the bosses with primers and then let them explode joyfully. Thus, the Merciless acts mercilessly against well-armed enemies.
- Brutality: This is the third talent. It causes each shot to have a 5% chance to deal +20% damage as explosive damage – but only when the Merciless is holstered.
This means that if you put the Merciless away and take out your secondary weapon, it has a 5% chance of additional explosive damage. The Merciless thus enhances your other equipped weapons.
What do you think of this “merciless weapon”? An exotic that you will definitely try out?
