In the State of the Game on 8.5., developer Massive announced that the Gear Score in The Division 2 will not be increased to 515 with Title Update 3 after all. How did this happen?
These were the plans for the Gear Score: Actually, they wanted to introduce loot with Gear Score 515 with the upcoming update. The current cap (for drops) is at 500. This would have meant better stats for the gear.
In addition to a release window for Title Update 3, they announced that these plans will be postponed indefinitely.

PTS feedback influences the developers’ plans
Here’s why players were skeptical: When the increase of the Gear Score was announced, the community’s enthusiasm was limited.
- It wasn’t really clear where you would get these 515 items outside the Dark Zone
- A developer revealed that 515 items would also drop in the raid
- However, many players feel that another increase in the Gear Score is too early. This was only introduced with the last update on April 5, which brought Tidal Basin and World Tier 5.
That’s why they are postponing the plans: The clear feedback from fans who could try out this change on the PTS (Player Test Server) ultimately led Massive to decide to postpone the increase of the Gear Score indefinitely.
In a separate article on the subject, Ubisoft explained more about what led to this decision:
After we have discussed in many meetings and video calls […], we have decided that with all the changes that will come with [Title Update 3], an increase in the Gear Score at this point would cause some problems.

They do not want to undermine the players’ progress and have clearly heard the feedback from the community. It should not only be about hunting higher gear.
Instead, the raid will now drop 500 items. Nevertheless, there will be other exclusive loot, such as the 3 new gear sets and a new exotic weapon.
Massive also thanks all players who provided active feedback. You can read the blog article on the official website.

When will the update and the raid be released? For Title Update 3, the upcoming week is set as the release period. The raid should follow shortly thereafter.
