For the next major Title Update 10, The Division 2 brings back the Public Test Server (PTS) on PC. This allows you to test early changes from the upcoming patch ahead of its release. Here’s how to participate.
Many have wished for this: After the last major updates like Title Update 8 (for the Warlords expansion) or Title Update 9, The Division 2 has faced numerous issues.
Many players felt like beta testers, which did not sit well with them. The calls for test servers became louder, and many wanted the PTS back.
Now the wish will indeed come true, Massive is bringing back the popular test environment for players with the upcoming major Title Update 10.
Why PTS at all? This allows significant changes to be tested live by many agents before they are rolled out to the entire player community.
Depending on feedback, necessary adjustments or fine-tuning can be made and presented to players for further review. This aims to prevent bugs from being overlooked or changes that are not well received by players.
All You Need to Know About the PTS for Title Update 10 in The Division 2
Who can use the test server feature? The PTS in The Division 2 is a PC-exclusive feature. Console players on PS4 and Xbox One unfortunately cannot participate.
The PTS servers will be on Uplay, and anyone who owns The Division 2 on PC will be able to participate in the test.
When does it start? The test servers will be available from 2:00 PM on May 22 (German time).
Is there a preload? Yes, the preload for the PTS client begins on May 21 at 6:00 PM German time.
What exactly will be tested on the PTS? The test is the first testing phase for the upcoming major Title Update 10. Initially, a first wave of changes will be tested. The focus will initially be on the following areas:
- General game condition
- Finding bugs
- Ensuring bug fixes function correctly
- Testing the new weapon and gear balance
- Testing weapon damage in PvP and changes to Time to Kill (TTK)
By the way, all 4 new Exotics (2 from the raid, 2 from Season 2) will be testable on the PTS. There will be a vendor where players can obtain all Exotics, items, and gear pieces that are set to be introduced with TU10.
Where can feedback be given? On the 22nd, a special PTS forum will be added to the official Ubisoft forums, where all testers can provide detailed feedback on their experiences in the test environment.
What’s Included in Title Update 10 (TU10) for The Division 2?
The goal of Title Update 10: Title Update 8 and the major expansion Warlords of New York brought a completely new endgame, new gear, and new progression. Additionally, Massive has gathered a lot of feedback over time and has tried to address issues and problems that arose or still exist with Title Update 9 and TU9.1.
With Title Update 10, they want to maintain this direction, keeping the same goal in mind. However, this will be a comparatively large update focused on the following two key areas:
- Improvement in quality and bug fixes to eliminate as many problems as possible.
- An improvement in balance that aims to bring back the fun and generosity of the game (player power/rewards).
These two aspects essentially affect almost everything: balance, gear, weapons, gear sets, rewards, difficulty levels, issues in PvP. All of this should, ultimately, be fun again.
However, fun does not mean making it easier. It is not the developers’ goal to simplify everything and remove any challenge. The difficulty should remain, but aspects that are unfair and cause frustration should disappear.
These changes are planned for TU10: Massive has already given a small glimpse into Title Update 10. Here are some example things that will be adjusted and tested on the PTS for TU10:
- Availability of Exotics: All Warlords Exotics will move into the loot pool of general sources (targeted loot, heroic/legendary end bosses, raid bosses, exotic containers). Exceptions are raid exotics and Bighorn.
- Weapons, weapon balance, weapon handling.
- Player power will be increased (SMGs and assault rifles will be buffed, for example). There will also be some nerfs, but all weapons should be brought to a comparable level.
- Light nerf for the M1A.
- Exotics will be revised to make them more desirable.
- The legendary difficulty will become more rewarding (more drop chance from veteran and elite enemies).
- The loot rolls for all difficulty levels will be examined more closely.
- Changes to weapon damage and the TTK in PvP.
- Extensive overhaul of vendors: no more purple items after level 40, higher item power, named items will be sold by all vendors, and more.
- Revision of projects.
- Crafting will yield better min/max values.
Keep in mind that these are just some example excerpts and not the complete patch notes.
