The loot shooter The Division 2 had long disappeared into oblivion. But now the journey continues and Season 9 with TU15 starts on May 12 with a new mode, fresh mechanics, and a roadmap until the end of August. MeinMMO shows you the details of the new season.
The Division 2 could not meet the expectations of publisher Ubisoft and abruptly ended content supply. It was quite quiet around the game for a long time. Although there was an announcement for a new update, there was no timeline or even a roadmap for a very long time.
Then at the end of March 2022 came the quite surprising news – The Division 2 will receive new content in Season 9. This includes a new mode, the gear mechanic “Expertise” and new gear including exotics.
Now a trailer and the roadmap for Season 9 are online. The start date is also set: On Thursday, May 12, Division 2 continues. What you can expect, we will show you on MeinMMO. We will embed the trailer for the new season here:
Division 2: Season 9 – Once the whole menu until the end of August
What comes with Season 9? The roadmap covers a timeline until the end of August and delivers a little bit of everything:
- New mode Countdown
- Expertise system for gear
- New manhunt continues the story with 5 targets
- 6 events and 4 leagues
- New gear

What is this new game mode? The highlight of Season 9 is likely to be the new mode Countdown. As the name suggests, you should fix a problem under time pressure and will encounter heavy resistance.
2 teams of 4 agents each invade a power plant to solve a problem on-site. You only have 15 minutes to resolve the situation. The area is filled with enemies who want to prevent you from stabilizing the power plant.
The mode is fundamentally designed for 8 players but can also be completed by fewer people. Solo players and smaller teams can also participate – matchmaking is enabled.

What is the “Expertise System”? With the new gear mechanic, gear can be improved in a new way. When you play with certain items, the gear levels up in the background, ultimately providing you with extra power. You can also “donate” suitable items to increase the expertise level.
However, you do not level a specific item, but the category. For example, the weapon class “assault rifles”. Named items also have their own expertise rank, just like exotics, brands, gear sets, and armor parts.
This adds further depth to the gear system. In a separate new menu, you have an overview of the expertise levels of gear.

What does the new “Manhunt” bring? For a long time, The Division 2 repeated old seasons and continuously brought new incarnations of previously defeated enemies. With Season 9, there are once again 5 new targets and a new story surrounding the faction “True Sons”.
The leader of the new enemy group is Captain Lewis, whom you are supposed to defeat at the end of the manhunt:
However, you first have to fight your way to the boss. Before that, you need to defeat his minions, and every 3 weeks there is a new enemy:
- From May 12: Major Castillo
- From May 31: Sergeant Daniels
- From June 21: Lieutenant Chang
- From July 12: Major Xander
- Captain Lewis – Defeat all lieutenants
The lieutenants will take over one of the missions in D.C. that has been overrun by the True Sons during the introduction.
Shortly after the introduction of the mini-bosses, a league will go online. In these leagues, you need to complete specific missions and perform well for extra rewards:
- Castillo League: May 17 – May 31
- Daniels League: June 7 – June 21
- Chang League: June 28 – July 12
- Xander League: July 19 – August 2
Additionally, there will be a new battle pass that allows you to acquire more items in exchange for playtime. There is a free path and a premium path, which yields more items when you pay for it.
What events are running in Season 9? As of now, Season 9 will run at least until August 29 – that is when the last announced event ends. The following events are planned for Season 9:
- Polarity Switch: May 24 – May 30
- Guardians: June 14 – June 20
- SHD Exposed: July 5 – July 11
- Hollywood: July 26 – August 1
- Golden Bullet: August 9 – August 15
- Reanimated: August 23 – August 29
What new gear is there? Here too, there is a bit of everything. You will find new weapons and gear, as well as a new gear set, a new exotic, and fresh named items.

What comes after Season 9? Division 2 makes no promises for the time after Season 9. The people responsible at developer Massive Entertainment are now working with a significantly smaller team on the title than before.
The creative director Yannick Banchereau said in a stream about Season 9 that there is indeed hope to continue developing Division 2.
However, this also depends on the success of the new season: “The more people play, the better we can convince our bosses to create more content” (via reddit). The future remains unclear.
But at least there is guaranteed content until the end of August, and that is already more than one could expect just a few months ago.
