Today, on September 18th, the State of the Game for The Division 2 aired. Massive presented a new PvP mode that is said to allow for more heroic moments.
What kind of mode is this? During today’s “State of the Game” livestream, the developers at Red Storm, who mainly work on the Dark Zone and the PvP of The Division 2, revealed a new PvP mode called “Team Elimination.”
This is Team Elimination:
- It is a PvP mode that is supposed to be “hardcore” and “intense”
- Two teams of 4 agents each compete against each other
- Each agent has one life
- If all agents of a team are defeated, the other team wins a round
- There are a maximum of 7 rounds per match. The first team to win 4 rounds decides Team Elimination.
- Each round has a time limit.
In addition, there will be new boosts in Team Elimination. For example, a boost that revives all team members who have been killed.
According to Red Storm, every kill in this mode should be crucial. You will significantly notice losses. You must work closely as a team.
This, in turn, enables “heroic moments.” It is the best feeling when you, as the last survivor, secure victory for your team. Such heroic moments are expected to happen frequently in Team Elimination and be motivating.
On the PTS, which has been live for a few days, you can soon test the new PvP mode. It is expected to be activated in the coming days.
Team Elimination will be available to all agents with Title Update 6, which will be released in October.

More Info on the Dark Zone: For the Dark Zone, there are two important changes planned with Update 6:
- It should create more incentives for agents to want to go into the Dark Zone
- It should become fuller
Currently, agents are distributed across too many, almost empty DZ servers, which is why with Title Update 6, you will be brought to full servers when you pass through a DZ checkpoint. Therefore, there may be loading times while the new matchmaking is running.
If you are already on a full server and enter the Dark Zone, the DZ entry remains seamless without loading times.
To create new incentives, the supply drops will be revised so that they spawn in new locations and are contested. Furthermore, there will be a small chance of an “ambush” occurring when you call in the helicopter. Black Tusk enemies will appear, which you can defeat for additional loot – or you can flee to another landing zone.

Terry Spier, the Creative Director of Red Storm, promises that there will be many more innovations in the Dark Zones of The Division 2 in the future. But first, they need to fill the DZ servers. That’s what Title Update 6 is for.
By the way: Massive briefly mentioned the “Eagle Bearer.” This is a rare raid exotic that is set to be nerfed with Title Update 6. Agents complained and called this “disrespectful,” as they do not want to grind the raid endlessly to obtain this powerful weapon.
Massive stated today that the exotic is too dominant and that they want to provide more options in the endgame. It is too boring when one weapon is always the best choice in PvE and PvP.
However, they are listening to feedback and emphasize that the nerf on the PTS is not final. The talents of other exotics will also be adjusted – they speak of nerfs and buffs – and it remains to be seen how the Eagle Bearer will perform in the new balance.
