With Title Update 6 of The Division 2, many really good values were brought into the game. In particular, the “Named Items” are fun for build creators. A certain mask can provide 100% hazard protection and more. Here’s how you can get the ultimate hazard protection mask.
Why do you need hazard protection in The Division 2? In the loot shooter Division 2, pure bullet damage is just one of many ways to ruin the day for the sometimes unstable bandits in Washington. There are numerous different status effects that can also be quite annoying for the agents.
To protect yourself from unwarranted assaults with poison or fire, the game includes “hazard protection.” If an agent is exposed to a status-altering attack, such as the shock attack from a drone, the chance of status change is 100% – minus hazard protection.
The importance of hazard protection should not be underestimated
How high should the hazard protection in my build be? A hazard protection value around 40% – 50% is already solid protection for a good build. The effects trigger noticeably less often, and if there is a fire, you can often jump out of the debuff zone without a blazing holster.
However, with Title Update 6, there is now a mask that can already provide over 100% hazard protection and thus even secures status effect immunity.
The Hollow Man comes with all-around protection
What kind of mask is that? The mask is one of the new “Named Items” and thus has the perfect version of a high-end talent. In this case, it is “Perfectly Isolated” with 50% hazard protection in one talent!
- The Hollow Man
- Yaahl Gear Mask
- 2 attribute values
- Perfectly Isolated: 50% hazard protection
How does the mask get to 100%? The named mask is part of the Dark Zone brand “Yaahl Gear” and comes with the perfect passive talent and two variable attributes. This firefighter helmet protects excellently against wind, weather, and disruptive status effects.
If one of these attributes is recalibrated to a hazard protection value over 50%, you can achieve an incredible 100% protection with just this one item. However, the mask can also serve as a solid hazard protection base, and the other values can be used according to your own build.
Named equipment comes from the Dark Zones
Where do I get the firefighter helmet? This situation is a bit tricky. “Yaahl Gear” is not part of the regular loot pool and currently has no area for targeted loot. This brand is exclusively reserved for Dark Zone activities.
However, there are two ways to increase the chances of obtaining the item.
- Looting – Masks are indeed part of the targeted loot system. So if a Dark Zone offers increased chances for masks, the chance of obtaining a “Hollow Man” mask increases significantly.
- The likelihood of “Named Items” increases with the difficulty of the activities. Thus, the chance for one of these special masks is even greater in the “Occupied Dark Zones.”
- Shopping – Keep an eye on the Thieves Den vendor’s offerings.
- The “Thieves Den Vendor” comes with a named item from the Dark Zone each week. You can see on the mega-map in which of the unoccupied zones he is located. However, the fence is not so easily caught.
Hazard protection can be extremely helpful
Am I actually protected from all status changes? An agent with 100% hazard protection is protected from the negative effects of ongoing disruptions. However, the protection only applies to the debuff. Fire or poison continues to deal damage if you stay in the affected area.
You are protected from these status changes:
- Burning
- First armor, then health damage
- Poisons
- Health damage
- Confusion
- Controls are difficult, visibility disturbed
- Shock
- Out of cover and incapacitated
- Blindness or deafness
- No sight / no sound
- EMP disruption
- Devices are destroyed and skill usage is blocked
- Bleeding
- Health damage over time
- Sticking
- Movement but not combat incapable
However, some very unpleasant characters still have a few nasty trump cards up their sleeve. The otherwise helpful chemical mixture from the “Oxidizer” can sometimes be used by enemies as well, and even the ultimate hazard protection mask won’t help you there.
How much hazard protection do you include in your build? Is 100% even necessary?
