The online shooter The Division 2 will take place in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States. Now there are images of the complete map, including the different areas of the city.
The Division 2 moves the setting from the wintry New York to the midsummer Washington D.C. and aims to provide players with a believable game world. We have now gotten a glimpse of the entire map from the Ubiday in Japan.
The 6 different areas of D.C.
Unlike the first part, Washington D.C. is not only divided into individual neighborhoods or blocks, but also by the theme of each area. The greater variety is intended to make the city a main character in The Division 2.
These are the different regions in The Division 2:
- Suburbs: This area is marked in yellow. Here are the houses of the upper class, many of whom had to leave their belongings behind. Here, one can see in the houses how people had to flee in a hurry.
- Commercial Areas: These areas are marked in purple. In these parts of the city, there are malls, supermarkets, and all other types of stores. These have been particularly hard hit by looting.
- Historic Districts: These extend through a large part of the map. Here you can find historic buildings like the Lincoln Memorial and former institutions that also played a role during the catastrophe.
- Government District: In these, blue-marked, neighborhoods lie the buildings of the US government, such as the White House.
- Residential Areas: The red part of the map represents the residential areas. Visually, this area is closest to Manhattan. Here, many residents tried to barricade themselves in their apartments.
- Nature: Washington D.C. also has forests and jungle-like areas to offer. These are marked in green on the map.
As the map shows, a few regions stretch across the map; they are not strictly separated.
What else do we know about the open world? Although the map may not look like it, the map of The Division 2 will be approximately 20% larger than the predecessor. Streets and buildings correspond to a 1:1 scale.
There are supposed to be various settlements of civilians and hostile factions that also fight each other.

By the way, other cities were also considered for The Division 2. However, they decided against options like New Orleans.
