In this guide for The Division 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox One), we explain how you can defeat Boomer, the first boss from the new raid Operation: Dark Hours. Here’s what you need to do.
Since 6:00 PM on May 16, the first raid of The Division 2 has been live. More than 5 hours passed before Operation: Dark Hours was first completed. Agents spent a lot of time on the total of 4 boss encounters in the raid. Because these were not only tough; it also took a while to understand the mechanics of each final boss.
Especially on PS4 and Xbox One, agents have problems with the raid, for many, the first boss Boomer was already a dead end. In this guide, we explain how you can master this 1st boss of the new raid.
This is how to deal with Boomer – the 1st boss in the raid “Operation: Dark Hours”
Here’s what you need to know about Boomer: “Boomer,” whose real name is Max Bailey, is the first boss you encounter in the course of the new raid.
With the start of Operation: Dark Hours, many agents have already bitten their teeth on him. Many wondered how to kill him or at least deal damage to him.
Because in the first fights, many agents felt he was simply invincible.
Boomer is heavily armored, initially immune to damage, and heals quickly. In addition, he is supported by Black Tusk agents and a kind of defense system. This drove many players to the brink of frustration. But even though he can take a lot of damage – with the right strategy and a bit of practice, and a dose of endurance, he can still be defeated. Nevertheless, this is not an easy task.
The situation in the battle area
This is how the room is set up: You fight Boomer in a room inside the regional airport of Washington D.C. The room is set up as follows:
- There are two miniguns that are crucial for this fight. With them, you can blow out Boomer’s lights. If they are destroyed, you have lost this fight. They should always be manned. Boomer will inevitably destroy them after a certain time (the first minigun after about 5 minutes, the second after approximately 11 minutes). So you only have a limited time for this fight.
- Moreover, there are 4 shield generators (large electronic cubes) that make your opponents immune to any damage in a blue-marked area. These generators can only be destroyed with the miniguns if they are already active. If they are being activated, you can turn them off with corresponding terminals. This defense must be disabled or destroyed for you to deal damage to Boomer.
- There are 4 terminals in the center of the room: A, B, C, and D. Monitors on the outer side of this island indicate which terminal/laptop you need to interact with to disable the activating defense. ISAC will notify you once the defense is activated.
These mechanics should be considered with Boomer:
- Boomer has a kind of healing system on his chest that lights up green when it’s active. With this, he can regenerate himself repeatedly. You can stop his regeneration by shooting at this plate as soon as it lights up. Also, he can only take damage if his backpack has been destroyed.
- Boomer has an aggro mechanic. He marks random players with a red eye, which the respective agent then sees under their health bar in the group display. This person should kite Boomer, meaning lure him around behind them.
The fight against Boomer
This is how to start: Here, teamwork is key. It is best to position yourselves as shown in the picture. Two people continuously man the miniguns. Make sure they don’t overheat and protect them from enemies. The miniguns initially take care of adds and the generators. The remaining players are responsible for the adds. These should be eliminated quickly, as they can overwhelm you otherwise.
This is how to make Boomer vulnerable: Boomer is initially immune and will mark a random player with the red eye. This marked person now draws the boss’s aggro and acts as a decoy from now on. This player is also responsible for shooting at the green-lit plate on Boomer’s chest to stop his regeneration. Additionally, this person should keep the boss and the spawning adds away from the towers.
Once the green plate on his chest lights up, the decoy shoots at it and tries to position Boomer’s back towards one of the miniguns. Then the player at the minigun shoots at the red box on Boomer’s backpack.
This is how to defeat Boomer: If the minigun shooter hits correctly, Boomer goes down on his knees. Once this happens, the entire raid team should focus all their firepower on the boss. Then Boomer becomes immune again, the shield generators will revive, and you must destroy or deactivate them. Now you repeat the entire process with the boss. Do this until you have taken Boomer down.
