In The Division 2 , developer Massive has now presented the next two operations. They will come with “Episode 1 – Washington Outskirts,” probably this summer. The release of the free DLC is expected in July or August 2019 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Now we finally know how The Division 2 continues. At E3 2019, Ubisoft presented the plans for the current year in general. Even a movie on Netflix is expected.
But there were also concrete announcements for the near future. Episode 1, the first of three planned DLCs, takes us to the “Outskirts” of Washington, to the outskirts of the city. In German, this has been somewhat misleadingly translated as “Vorstädte,” as the missions apparently take place outdoors, in the wilderness.
Where to next in The Division 2? With “Episode 1,” players will head into the vicinity of Washington:
- one operation leads to the “Manning National” Zoo – here the agents hunt Emeline Shaw, the evil leader of the plague-spreading Outcasts
- in Camp White Oak, the Black Tusk have entrenched themselves. The camp is supposed to be located in a picturesque forested area.
How do you get there? Apparently, the helicopter pilot in front of the White House is key to undertaking the new operations.
For the operation at the camp, players must reach World Tier 5 and complete the “Tidal Basin” mission.
What we know about the zoo: Shaw and the Outcasts have retreated to the zoo after their defeat on Roosevelt Island and made the zoo their new headquarters.
It is considered unlikely that they purchased the zoo beforehand.
Emeline Shaw is an asymptomatic carrier of the virus, displaying no signs of the disease herself. Therefore, she could play a crucial role in the story of The Division 2.
In the zoo, the Outcasts have erected barricades, behind which they await the arrival of the agents. Players will encounter several animal species on their way to Shaw, including:
- pelicans
- crocodiles
- and monkeys
What’s special about the setting: The Division 2 is known for realistically recreating locations and fulfilling its educational mission. There will be information panels in the zoo that provide details about the different species.
So far, the museum missions were the highlight in The Division 2 – perhaps the zoo can connect here as an extraordinary setting.
What we know about the camp: Very little is known about this area. It is said to be particularly picturesque and peaceful, located in the forest, between lakes and hills. The landscape is described as splendid.
The climax of the confrontation with the highly technologically advanced Black Tusk will take place in a wooden hut. That is where the leader resides.
When is all this coming? It is still unclear. In June, the update 4 will be released with the new specialization Gunner – a possible timeframe for the two new missions would then be July or August 2019.
The DLC will be free.
