With the release of Title Update 5 and the “Episode 1” DLC, owners of the Year 1 Pass for The Division 2 can play two new Classified Assignments starting July 23. However, just before the release of these new contents, Massive has revealed what players can expect.
Warning, story spoilers ahead – Continue at your own risk!
What are the Classified Assignments about? With the first DLC “Episode 1”, in addition to 2 new main missions and the new activity “Expeditions”, 2 more Classified Assignments are being added to the game:
- Central Aquarium
- and NSA Site B13
These are essentially somewhat shorter missions that elaborate on various events surrounding the fall of Washington D.C. through their own small stories. The focus is clearly on the story, providing players with more insight into the civilian population and some of the factions.
Initially, Massive intended to present these new assignments in the State of the Game last week, but the information was only released shortly before the release of Title Update 5 and Episode 1. Now we finally know what agents can expect in the 2 new Classified Assignments.

How and when can I play these assignments? These short missions can only be played by owners of the Year 1 Pass for The Division 2. They can be selected on the map of D.C. after the release of Title Update 5. These assignments are marked for you with a blue star symbol.
By the way: before these new Classified Assignments appear on your map, you must first complete the initial Classified Assignment that was released back in May.
This is what awaits you in the secret mission Central Aquarium: In this mission, agents will be tasked with rescuing civilians who have set up their new home in an aquarium complex after the disaster.
This idyllic spot is now being besieged by the Hyenas, who have invaded the aquarium in search of usable equipment, plundering it and terrorizing the residents, who then sent out an emergency call.
In this mission, agents will learn more about how the group of survivors from the aquarium was bonded together by the disaster. Additionally, they will work with a local ally to drive out the Hyenas and uncover a major mystery: What happened to all the fish?
This is what awaits you in the secret mission NSA Site B13: This mission is set in the namesake secret facility of the National Security Agency – one of the numerous intelligence agencies of the United States.
The facility was locked down at the time of the disaster and has since remained untouched, which is why it is completely intact. Until now. The agents are investigating a cryptic message that has reached them from the underground of the National Mall as part of this Classified Assignment.
Elite mercenaries from the Black Tusk have breached the wall of a subway tunnel to gain access to the secret data center of the NSA. It is now up to the agents to secure this facility and cleanse it of the Black Tusk. Players will discover what the NSA really knew and how they responded to the threat – even before Black Friday, when the virus broke out.
What do you think of these small story snippets so far? Are you excited about the new Classified Assignments or do you find them uninteresting?
