Since June 4th, PC players can test the upcoming Update 4 on The Division 2 on the PTS (Public Test Server). They have now discovered a new exotic holster. What can this special gear do?
This is the new exotic holster: Apparently, Massive forgot to mention the holster in the Patch Notes of the PTS. Because it is not mentioned there. It is called “Dodge City Gunslinger’s Holster” and can now be unlocked on the PTS.
What does the exotic gear do? The new holster is the first exotic gear piece to make its way to The Division 2. So far, there have only been weapons.
It has three unique talents:
- Slight of Hand – Works only with a pistol.
- +20% precision
- +20% stability
- +40% reload speed
- +400% optimal range
- +20% revolver damage
- Quick Draw – Switching to the pistol reloads all your other weapons.
- Perforator – Shots fired with the pistol penetrate your enemies. Headshot kills with the pistol increase damage for all your weapons by +20% for 8 seconds. If you use a revolver, the time increases to 11 seconds.
Aside from these talents, the holster has no attributes. But how do you get the holster? The user HerpDerpenberg explained this step by step on Reddit.
But keep in mind that this is the test server. Things may work differently when the update goes live.
Go West, young Agent
Here’s how to get the exotic holster:
- Head to the blueprint vendor, where you get the corresponding project (“Go West, young Agent”) for the holster
- Now go to the westernmost checkpoint, the Riverside Gas Station
- Capture this (the level doesn’t matter).
- In the reward box at the checkpoint, you will find the first piece “Fast Leather Belt”
- To get the remaining 3 pieces, you need to capture one checkpoint each from the Outcasts, one from the Hyenas, and one from the True Sons at level 4. However, you will get the pieces later.
- After that, head to the operations base to receive one last project. Now you will face Black Tusk.
- According to this project, you need to head to a bar in the northeast. The description says: “Don’t show yourself until they do.”
- This simply means: Do not show yourself before noon (12 PM). Otherwise, the NPCs that provide you with the last piece won’t spawn.
- Once you’ve defeated the NPCs, grab the piece for the holster and go back to the operations base.
- There you can now complete the project and receive the other parts, in addition to the blueprint.
Can the holster be combined with an exotic weapon? Yes, that is possible. In total, agents can equip one exotic weapon and one exotic gear piece. This is particularly interesting for fans of the exotic pistol “Liberty”.
What do players think about the new exotic?
- Overall, players on Reddit react very positively.
- HerpDerpenberg himself writes: “Overall, I think it’s pretty good for the first exotic gear piece. […] It’s not the best piece for every build, but I think that’s a good thing, since there are at least 5 other exotic gear pieces left for the other slots.”
- However, some are disappointed that the holster does not have regular attributes that are usually found on gear pieces.
- The first are already considering which exotics could be brought back from The Division 1.
- Some wish for the popular NinjaBike Backpack, which in the predecessor could be combined with gear sets to unlock more talents.
- Most are just curious about what comes next and are excited that the holster could make pistols more interesting.
