Starting soon, the first raid, Operation Dark Hours, will begin in The Division 2. We have summarized everything you need to know about the launch of this new activity.
What is Operation: Dark Hours? The first raid in The Division 2 is a new PvE endgame activity for groups of eight players.
This is said to be the biggest challenge in the game so far, where teamwork and the skills of the agents will be put to the test.
Operation: Dark Hours – What You Should Know About the First Raid
When does the raid start? The raid will open its doors on Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 PM our time. This has already been announced in-game.
What is it about? The Black Tusk have taken over the abandoned airport of Washington D.C. upon their arrival in the city. A group of agents is supposed to clean and reclaim the airport. Players will encounter exotic bosses, new mechanics, and technologies, and will apparently also need to solve puzzles.
Requirements for the raid: The raid is part of the endgame. Consequently, not every agent can jump into this top-tier activity – even if it comes as a free update for all players.
Your character should meet the following requirements:
- Reached Level 30
- World Tier 5 unlocked
- A gear score of at least 490
You don’t need a full team of eight players to start the raid. However, the difficulty will not scale if fewer than eight agents are present. It is always designed for eight players.
How to start the raid: After the raid’s release, talk to the helicopter pilot at the heli-pad by the White House. This will unlock a new tab in the game’s social menu, where you can then assemble your raid team. The one who creates the group is the raid leader. Only they can start the raid.

These are the rewards in the raid
To make the trip to the raid worthwhile, The Division 2 has some exclusive rewards for you there. Note: The gear sets and the weapon can only drop once per week. After your first successful run, you will have to wait until the reset before you get the next chance at these items.
Exclusive raid gear:
- Three new gear sets have already been found on the test servers (PTS). However, there was no sign of them in the patch notes for Title Update 3. They are now coming into play with the raid and will be available exclusively there.
- There will also be a raid-exclusive weapon – the assault rifle “The Eagle Bearer”
Further exclusive rewards: There are also additional rewards linked to the raid.
- If you complete the raid, you will receive a special clan icon and a raid trophy.
- If you finish the raid in the first week, you will receive an exclusive arm patch.
The race for World First – How to become immortal: Anyone who manages to complete the first raid of The Division 2 as the first team in the world will be immortalized in a special way in-game.
A picture of this team will then be hung in the White House for all players to see – along with clan and agent names.
In line with the raid – The “Dark Hours” apparel event: With the raid, a new event will also start where you can earn new cosmetic rewards like during the first apparel event – including:
- 5 outfits and one uniform
- 2 masks
- 4 emotes
- and 8 weapon skins
