In The Division 2 you can now get the Diamondback. It is a vicious exotic rifle. What the Exotic has to offer and how you can obtain it, you will learn in our article.
Since when is the Exotic in the game? On July 23, 2019, Episode 1 “Washington’s Suburbs” started for season pass holders. On July 30, the new main missions of this DLC were also unlocked for all other agents for free. So it’s worth checking out The Division 2 again.
As part of this Episode 1, the exotic rifle “Diamondback” was introduced, which can finally be obtained starting from August 6. The Exotic immediately catches the eye with its striking design: It is entwined by a rattlesnake.
But: Is the weapon any good – and how do you get it?

How to obtain the Diamondback – Here are the locations
This is how you obtain the Diamondback: To have the Exotic in your hands, you must master all three expeditions. The expeditions take place in and around Kenly College:
- Kenly Library
- Kenly Subway Station
- and Student Union
Expeditions are new activities that lead you to undiscovered places and want to test your exploration, puzzle, and combat skills.

By the way, this is how you open the locked loot rooms in Kenly College
What you need to keep in mind regarding the expeditions: Since August 6, the Student Union is finally unlocked as the third and final part of the expeditions. This means that the new weapon Exotic can now also be obtained – provided you have completed all three expedition sections.
You will receive this new weapon by looting the chest in the Kenly Chapel. Access to this building on the college grounds will only be unlocked once you have successfully mastered all three expedition sections.

Enter the chapel from the side through the basement. Right after opening the door, you will encounter the large yellow chest from which the Diamondback will spawn. Here you can see the path again in the video:
Exotic Perks of the Diamondback
What makes the Diamondback special: It is a lever-action rifle with a magazine of 5 rounds and a fire rate of 100 shots per minute. The Exotic represents a variant of the 1886 rifle . The reload time is 3.4 seconds.
The weapon talents:
- Painful Bite: The Diamondback randomly marks an enemy. If the enemy is hit, the mark is removed and guarantees a critical hit with +20% total damage. Subsequently, or after each reload, another random enemy is marked.
- Long Fangs: After hitting 5 marked enemies, +50% reload speed and +20% total damage are granted, and all shots fired are counted as critical hits for 10 seconds.
- Skin Shedding: As long as the weapon is drawn, +20% additional armor is granted for 3 seconds with each round reloaded. If the weapon is in the holster, +8% bonus armor is granted for 2 seconds every time you reload or switch weapons.

In practice, this means: If you hit the marked enemies quickly and accurately, you can deal massive damage with the Diamondback. The Skin Shedding talent ensures that you stay on your feet while doing so.
The strength of this Exotic largely depends on your precision and your ability to quickly target enemies. If you miss a shot, the buff will reset.
Weapon controversial in early tests of The Division 2
Is the Diamondback any good? So far, the weapon has only been playtested on the test servers, with several users stating: This thing is interesting!
Others consider it “trash” since it enforces a strange playstyle, requires precise hits, and only has 5 shots in the magazine. However, compared to the PTS, the talents were made more effective. How well it will perform in the main game can ultimately only be shown by the future.
When choosing your weapons, one shouldn’t go by looks; however, the Diamondback is one exception where you might make an exception. The hunt for it is worth it for everyone: Because who wouldn’t want to play with a rifle that is entwined by a snake?
